Unforgotten – Chapter 34

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2020/01/20/unforgotten-chapter-33/

Athena’s P.O.V.

Once Lucas untied my blindfold, I looked around and noticed that I wasn’t in my simple cottage, but in an old farmhouse. This one looked a little familiar, especially when we were on the road traveling.

“What are you going to do with me?” I asked as Lucas lit a few candles around the room. The room was covered in the duct and cobwebs like this place had been abanded for years. My eyes turned to the left and I noticed in the kitchen that there was just a table, it too looked like it was going to fall apart.

“Well,” Lucas said, looking down at a photo that was framed on the table. I couldn’t notice who it was until he brought the photo closer. “You are mine. I’ve lost the only thing that has kept me going, until now.”

He walked closer to me as he held the photo frame of my mother, a tear fell from my cheek as he touched the side of my face. I just wanted it all to be over.

All I could think of was my dad and brother, how much I would miss them, not to mention my Aunt Maire and James. I wouldn’t be where I was today without them. Then I thought about Dean, how much I should’ve told him I loved him and how much he means to me. I wouldn’t be as strong today without him.

I didn’t want to keep thinking that, thinking that I would never see my friends or family again. I had to come up with a plan.

Lucas turned away and walked into another room as I tugged my arms to pull apart or loosen the rope around my wrists. I stopped once I noticed that Lucas had entered back into the room with a white dress.

It looked like a wedding dress, but it was covered in dust that seemed more yellow than white. “What do you think?” He asked me.

I nodded and faked to like the hideous dress. “If we are going to do this, we are going to do it right.” He then took me and pulled me into the same room he just came from. It was a bedroom, the smell itself made me wanted to vomit. Not to mention the bedsheet was stained with something brown.

He then took the rope off from around my wrist. “Put it on, I’ll be back in a second.” He said, as soon as he freed my wrists, he smiled and closed the door behind him.

I ran towards the windows, even though they were covered with boards, I wanted to see if any of them were loose, but they were all hammered in tightly. The strong scent caught my nose as I turned away from the last corner. Flies were all over the closet door.

I covered my nose as I slowly approached the closet door. I used my shirt to cover my nose as I opened the door. Two decomposing bodies were sitting in there as other creatures were attacking the bodies. I couldn’t hold it in any longer as I vomited right in front of the bodies.

I screamed as I backed away from the closet and going across the room to the other corner. I couldn’t believe these bodies have been sitting in that closet for however knows how long. I cried as I tried to stare away, but the wounds on their bodies told me that they didn’t die a natural death.

They were murdered.

I watched as the door swung open, Lucas was standing there shaking his head. “I told you to put on the dress. You weren’t supposed to see that.” Anger filled his eyes as I tried to back away more into the corner as I could. Lucas started to walk closer to me, holding a syringe in his hands. “Now, we are gonna do this my way.”

He walked faster towards me pointing the syringe at me.

“No!” I screamed, using my strength to get him away from me, but all I saw was a face in front of me when everything went black.

James’ P.O.V.

I gripped onto the steering wheel, praying that nothing back has happened to Athena. She was the thing that I had left that reminded me of Jade. She looked just like her, same with Logan, but I wasn’t going to lose either of them.

Eli and I sat in silence as we drove off to this farmhouse. I finally broke the silence, wondering what Lucas’ plan was with my daughter.

“Does he know about Jade?” I asked as it hurt me to be reminded that she was gone. I promised to protect her too, but I failed to do so. I hated myself for that.

“Yes, he was told, which is why he shot me. He told me that Jade better be alive when we got there, otherwise, he would’ve killed me and Marie.” Eli said as I kept my eyes on the road, trying to get my mind off of everything.

“I’ve been meaning to ask you,” I paused as I looked over at him. Eli had completely disappeared after James had been turned into a vampire, but was staked. “How are you still alive? Marie told us you were dead.”

My eyes turned back on the road as I hear a sigh from Eli. “Let’s just say I had to fake my death to protect you all.”

“You could’ve told Marie that. She blames herself for you getting killed.” I said.

I looked over as I noticed that he was heartbroken at what I just said. I knew he loved Marie, they were perfect for each other. I knew she was always going to be safe being around him. Once he ‘died’, that’s when I started taking trips out to see her.

“I know, but the Vampire Court didn’t like the fact that you and Jade knew about our kind. They wanted me to kill you all, but instead, I faked my death. I had to make sure that Marie’s reaction was real so that she would push you away knowing that was the fate of us blood-suckers.”

My eyes opened wide when I saw that farmhouse in my view. I started to step on the gas, but Eli stopped. “No, we have to stop here. It’s a trap if we pull up in the driveway.” I stopped and turned off the engine. “He’s not alone.”

I looked around as I saw other people standing outside in front of the door. I looked back over at Eli. “So, what’s the plan?”

Eli smirked as he pulled out his phone and handing it over to me. “Call up those boys, we are gonna need a distraction.”

The Downfall of Luck (Friday’s Short Stories)

The Downfall of Luck

Hey Dearies! Here is another one for you all! This one is about having really good luck and it turning out from better to worse!

A poor young boy or girl comes into an unexpected fortune. Not all fortunes are good. Sometimes discovering a fortune will destroy your life.

James never had any good luck in his life. He was broke, poor, and lived a stole car. He had to struggle his entire life, his parents worked hard, but his father left when he was two. His mother, on the other hand, kept working hard to provide for James, but ended up going down a dark path and ended her life when he was 12.

He’s been in and out of children’s homes that when he turned 15, he fled to be on his own. After that, he has been living on the streets ever since. He’s tried getting jobs or getting back on his feet, but no one wanted to hold out their hand to help. James was tired of being on the streets, but that’s all he had.

At the age of 27, he got what he was asking for. It was more than just luck, but hopefulness of his future.
James was doing his normal routine, looking for a job by asking around, gathering what he could for food to help feed himself, and hoping that some stranger would give him enough money to find a place to take a shower.

As he was walking in the streets of L.A., a tall blond businessman dropped his wallet, as he was leaving the coffee shop. He seemed too busy to notice what he dropped since he was on his phone.

James picked up the wallet and thought for a second. His luck was changing, but would it be worth it to use this man’s money? He then decided to follow that man, trying to catch up to him in the crowd, but once the man stopped, he finally tapped him on the shoulder.

“Sir, you dropped this?” James spoke as the man turned to face him. James held out the wallet to him.

“I’ll call you back, Charlie.” The man said as he placed his phone back in his pocket. “Thank you.”

“No problem. Have a nice day.” James said as the man took the wallet, but before James could leave, the man called back out to James.

“Wait, here.” The man said, handing James a hundred dollar bill. “Not many people would return a wallet back to its owner. Take it.”

James was shocked as to how many dollars were in his wallet, he was more shocked that this man was handing a homeless man a hundred dollar bill. James took the bill and smiled at the man.

“Thank you, sir.” He said as the man nodded and then turned away down the street. The first thing James thought of was taking a much-needed shower and getting some new clothes for himself.

Once he did that, he looked good as new. He had about 60 bucks left and wanted to make it last, but how. He started to question where he could make some more money or at least get a little bit more.

Then it hit him, as he looked up as to where he was, a casino. He smiled at the idea and walked inside. The lights were bright and the machines were loud, getting the attention of everyone who held chips in their cups, he didn’t know where to start.

He walked by a few machines and cashed in a few bucks to start, but there was one machine that caught his eye. The Wheel of Cash. James watched as people sprung the wheel, watching the click tick down to the number of prize money that was labeled onto the wheel. There were 4 jackpots, 4 losers, and the rest was random amounts of money under $2500 dollars.

It was $10 to play, but the chances he’d win were slim to none. Maybe this was my lucky day? James asked himself as he stood in line for the Wheel of Cash. There was only one person in front of him, a woman, who he had recognized quite well. She was one of those that would dress up for men wanting a good time.

Her name was Candy, she had asked him a few times if he wanted to spend some alone time with her, but both times he was completely broke. He watched her spin the wheel, checking out how she was dressed.

It wasn’t her normal entire, she usually had on short skirts and crop tops with her 5-inch heels that were always bright pink, but tonight she was dressed a little more class. Her blond hair was curled and pinned up, she didn’t have a lot of makeup on, and she was wearing a blue glittery dress.

As the wheel finally came to a stop, landing on $350 dollars, she gathered her cash and walked into James. “I’m so sorry.” She spoke, as James held out his hand to her.

“James, funny seeing you here.” She smirked as he pulled her to her feet.

“Same with you. I thought you were still on the street?” He asked. She shook her head no.

“I got out of that game a long time ago. I ended up falling in love and he saved me from what I was doing.” Candy said smiling at James, but she turned her head in another direction, her smiled changed. “Good to see you, I must be going.”

James watched as she walked away, but then realized he was next for the spin. Looking up at the Wheel of Cash, he saw the jackpot was for 1 million. Taking a deep breath and putting in his money and sprung the wheel.

His nerves were everywhere, he was so afraid of where it was gonna land. As the wheel started to slow down, he watched as it passed a jackpot, but it was still slowing down as it ticked to another Jackpot, stopping dead in its tracks.

The machine went off, letting the entire casino know that there was a jackpot winner.

After that, he was handed a million dollars in cash and was offered a suite room at the hotel as there a free treat for winning the jackpot.

This was it, he had finally had good luck, but didn’t know what to do with it. He had never had as much as maybe $500 dollars to his name, but now he had a million.

Instead of saving it and using some of the money to get him back on his feet, he decided to stay at the casino hotel for longer than he offered. He got himself a whole new wardrobe and took care of himself, making himself look like a million bucks.

He ate as much as he wanted, he slept with as many women as he wanted, and he lived life like he was born a royal. When the money started to get lower, he tried the Wheel again, hitting another jackpot.

One day, before he was heading down to the casino’s bar, there was a knock on the door. As he opened the door, he was surprised to see Candy standing before him. They didn’t speak a word, but she rushed up to him, pressing her lips against his.

Night after night, Candy would be over in his suite. He kept winning jackpots, to the point that the order of the casino was wondering if he was cheating or rigging his machines.

The casino’s owner, Logan Morin, was ready to make a deal with this man and find out what he was doing with his casino, but as he approached his door, the man was shocked to see his wife coming out of his hotel room, placing a kiss on his lips. It made his blood boil.

Logan called up his men and busted the door down. “That’s why you keep winning!” He shouted, pulling a guy from the back of his pants. “You are getting my money and my wife!”

James was shocked, he never thought Candy was married nor did she mention it. He put his hands up as he was about to explain, but before he could, the sound of a gun went off as he felt his entire body go into shock.

James looked down at his stomach as saw blood pouring out as he collapsed onto the floor. This was it, his luck had turned on him. Candy was the one making him win the jackpots. He said there and thought his last thought, what he would’ve done differently.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet C2C Baby Doll Pillow (Beginner)

Hey Dearies! So, last week I posted a pattern on a baby doll blanket, but I wanted to take a further step and make a pillow to go with it. This pattern is simple too, working with that C2C stitch, again.

I also wanted to make sure that it matched the blanket as well. The only thing I didn’t get a chance to do for the blanket was adding a white border around it, like I did for the pillow.

20200121_075352.jpg

If you haven’t seen or want to make the complete set, check out my C2C Baby Doll Blanket pattern that goes with this pattern:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2020/01/14/crafty-sassy-crochet-c2c-baby-doll-blanket-beginner/

Now, let’s talk about what you will need:

  • Medium Size Yarn
    • I used I Love This Yarn in the color Green, Turquoise & Red Print.
    • You’ll only need 1 skein.
    • If you would like to add another color for the border, you can, but you don’t have to.
  • 4.0 mm hook
  • Any type of stuffing
    • I used cotton stuffing.
  • Sewing needle

Now, if you aren’t familiar with the ‘C2C’ stitch, here is a wonderful video that Heart Hook Home has, that not only helped me understand how to do the stitch but also shows how to increase and decrease. Here is the video:

This pattern is great for learning and getting familiar with the ‘c2c stitch before moving on to bigger and more complicated projects.

The blanket size is a 7×9 square project, you can, of course, add or decrease squares to fit a small or large size baby doll.

Let’s Begin!

Chain 5.

Row 1: Double crochet into the 3 chains from the hook and in the next 2 stitches.

Row 2: Chain 5. Repeat from row one. (This is how we increase.) Then flip your ‘square’, like you are going connect it. Slip stitch in the chain three, from the last square. Chain 2. Make 3 double crochets in that same space.

Repeat until you have 7 squares across. Once you do, after making your last square, slip stitch on the top of the square. (This is how you decrease). Chain 2 and make 3 double crochets in that chain 3 space.

Keep going until the other side has reached 9 squares and on that finally square, slip stitch on the top of the square. Chain 2 and make 3 double crochets in the chain 3 space. As you continue to go back and forth, you’ll notice the rows start to get smaller.

Once you are at your final stitch, slip stitch the top of that last square and fasten off.

Sew in any loose ends in and then repeat this again to create another square.

Border:

Once you have created two of the same size squares, it’s time to put them together!

Place them together, on top of each other, making sure the corners match to each side. Then, taking either a white or colored yarn of your choice, make a slip knot onto your 4.0 mm hook.

Into the first corner, it doesn’t matter which corner you start in, enter your hook in BOTH pieces through the square and pull up a loop and slip stitch.

Then chain 1 and single crochet in that same spot you entered in. Single crochet around and when you reach a corner, make 3 single crochets in that same corner.

When you have single crocheted 3 of the sides, start to stuff your pillow, don’t stuff too much because it can make it very difficult to close. Once your pillow is stuffed, continued single crocheting around until you reach the last corner.

Make 2 single crochet in that same stitch. Then slip stitch into the next stitch.

Cut the yarn and then fasten off your work.

20200121_075352.jpg

There you have it! A simple baby doll set that you can make for anyone!

Unforgotten – Chapter 33

If you haven’t read Chapter 32, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2020/01/13/unforgotten-chapter-32/

Athena’s P.O.V.
I watched as Lucas tied down my Aunt Marie and James, into chairs next to me, as the other man stood by the door, watching to see if anyone else was going to notice we were all missing. Lucas turned to face me.

“Why didn’t you just take me?” I asked as he smirked, staring into my eyes, giving me goosebumps as he did.

“Well, there is a list of reasons as to why, but first, where is your mother. I expected her to be here, but yet I can’t find her.” He asked as he went into my kitchen and looked for a knife. He then proceeded to my Aunt Maire. “I’m not gonna ask again, Athena. Where is your mother?”

Tears started to run down my face as I watched him hold the knife against my Aunt’s neck, she started to cry as well. “Don’t hurt her, please.”

Lucas backed away and leaned into my face. “Where is she?!” He screamed in my face. I cried more, I didn’t want to say it, but I wanted to protect them.

“S-Shes dead,” I said, crying more tears, but I watched as his face went from angry to sad. He pulled away from my face, running his other hand through his hair and face.

“No-no, she isn’t! She can’t be!” He looked over at the other man, and got up into his face, holding the knife against his neck. “You lied to me then, Eli. You told me that she was here with my kids!”

“She was. I don’t know what happened.” The guy, Eli, explained, I saw a bit of blood started to run down his neck, but not enough to put him in danger of being dead. “Ask her,” He immediately pointed to my Aunt Marie.

Lucas walked over and placed his hand on her stomach. “Now Marie, if you want that thing in there to live, you need to tell me how she died.” He had the point of the knife touching her belly as I watched, trying to get my hand loose from the rope.
I looked over at Eli, he looked like his blood was about to boil, watching Lucas.

“We had a battle and the person who killed her, Tanner took care of. There was nothing anyone of us could do-,” My Aunt Marie explained, but Lucas didn’t look like he was having it, as he was about to push the knife into her stomach more.

Then Eli, pushed him away from her, making Lucas drop the knife. “You promised she wouldn’t be hurt!” Watching Eli come closer to Lucas, as Lucas crawl away from him, still facing each other. “You promised she wouldn’t be involved.”

Eli grabbed him by his jacket and pull him right up to his face, but I watched as Lucas pulled a gun from his jacket and pointed it at his chest.

“I didn’t promise shit, but here, let me kill you again.” Lucas smirked as he shot Eli, making him fall to the ground.

“NO!” My Aunt Marie screamed, crying as Lucas walked over and slapped her across the face.

“Shut up! You are the cause for all of this!” He pointed the gun towards my Aunt’s head as she cried.

“Don’t!” I yelled as Lucas looked back at me. “You have me, just please leave them alone. I’ll go with you.” He smirked after what I had said.

“Your right, all I really need is you.” He explained, untied my hands and chained them up instead, cutting the rope from my feet and doing the same.

“What are you doing? I said I was going to go with you.” I questioned as he dragged me out of the chair.

“You are gonna go with me, but if your anything like your mother, I ain’t gonna be tricked once again.” He smiled as he tied a blindfold around my eyes.

Tanner’s P.O.V.
After hours of working out a plan, we were finally ready to tell the others, but once we left Dean’s hall, something was wrong. Elle was nowhere to be found, I ran to my sister’s hall, nothing. My heart dropped as I ran into Dean and Logan.

“Where are they?” Dean asked, as I gave him a look that made his heart drop as well, as we both turned to Athena’s hall and bolted to her cottage. As I opened the door, Marie and James were tied up in chairs, but a familiar face was lying on the floor.

“Untie them,” I said as I ran towards, Eli, something that I haven’t heard nor seen in many years. He was shot, bleeding on the floor, but as I took another look at the bullet, it looked wooden, not metal. I pulled it out and he groaned.

“One downfall of being a vampire,” He spoke as his eyes opened, Marie ran right over to him.

“Eli, are you okay?” She asked as I helped him sit up.

“I’m fine.” Eli looked over at me, “Before we can have a family reunion, you need to go after Lucas, he has Athena.”

My heart dropped again, it was like I just lost Jade all over again, now my daughter.

“Where is he taking her?” I demanded as he pulled out his phone and showed me a farmhouse that was just up the road from where we were.

“Go, but it won’t be for much longer. He knows that she can’t be out from this place for long. He took her necklace.” As he pointed over by the chairs, and on the floor was her necklace.

“I’m going after her,” Dean said as he was about to walk out of the cottage. I stopped him in his tracks.

“No, I’m the only one who can go after them. The only thing I want you and Logan to do is what we planned for.” I looked over at Logan as he was upset at the fact I wasn’t allowing him to go after Lucas with me. “You got that? We need to worry about Athena.”
___________________________________________________________
As I left the cottage, Dean gave me bags of guns and bullets. I strapped myself with a bulletproof vest, a few hunting nights, and grabbed Athena’s necklace and placed it in my pocket.

“Let me come with, Dad. Please.” Logan begged, but I shook my head no.

“Not a chance, bud. I have already lost your mother, the last thing I need to do is lose Athena and you.” I gave him a hug, “I made a promise to kill that man, and I’m not going to break my promise.”

I grabbed what was needed and left the Tree. I got into my truck, toss the back onto the passenger seat and started the engine. I looked down at my hand, playing with my wedding ring. I still didn’t want to believe that Jade was gone, but I needed her more than she knows.

Before I was able to put my truck in gear, the passenger door and Eli hopped inside. “Don’t protest, you need me.” As he slammed the door shut.

T.V. Show Review: Friends (1994-2004)

‘I’ll be there for you’

As soon as you hear those words, immediately think of Friends. Yes! We are talking about one of the most greatest T.V. series in the world and one of my all-time favorites to sit down and enjoy.

1f96162cead774c3d3a8c5056b2c9b20.jpg

If you haven’t seen nor heard of Friends, then you must be living under a rock like Patrick Star! It’s a show about 6 friends, Monica, Rachel, Pheobe, Ross, Joey, and Chandler, as you get to watch them live their lives, work, and wish that you could have a group of friends just like them.

il_570xN.1851047533_22he.jpg

It doesn’t matter what type of mood I’m in, Friends always makes me feel better. It’s one of those shows that I’ve seen multiple times, and I don’t have any shame either, that can literally put your mood from shitty to happy, after watching a few episodes.

The show is an all-time favorite but was sadly removed from Netflix, due to every other cable station becoming just like Netflix. So, I haven’t been able to watch Friends whenever I wanted since that happened at the beginning of 2020.

The show also talks about some big stuff or life problems that we can or do encounter as an adult, such as pregnancy, marriage, break-ups, divorce, changing jobs, family problems, or that famous line of Ross’s WE WERE ON A BREAK!

download.jpg

Which if you didn’t know, about Ross’s line of ‘We were on a break’, the show Friends made it clear on how if you were to take a break in a relationship, there are two ways your partner will see it as Ross’s side or Rachel’s side.

o-friends-the-definitive-break-up-scene-was-so-emotional-that-8554245.png

After that episode, more people had to enclose what an actual relationship break is. Not to mention, as much as we LOVED Ross and Rachel being together, their relationship was quite toxic than we wanted to believe.

images.jpg
I actually have this mug!

The best part about this show is that each person from the Friends group is quite different from each other:

  • Joey –  He was an actor, that wasn’t very smart when it comes to common sense, but was a lovable lady’s man that could get any woman he wanted by saying, ‘Hey, how you doin?’
  • Rachel – She was the snob of the group, born into a rich lifestyle, but was friends with Monica since high school. She also loves fashion, but don’t let her make a trifle.
  • Ross – Loves dinosaurs and getting married/divorced. He is definitely a nerd at heart and anything to do with science.
  • Monica – Is a fat kid at heart, loves to cook and make sure everything is neat and clean. She’s also pretty organized, so do not move her furniture an inch.
  • Chandler – The joker of the group and very sarcastic, no one really knows what his job entails, but it has to do with being a transponder, as Rachel calls it.
  • Pheobe – She’s the weird one from the group, but we all love her the same. She’s very musically and everyone knows her favorite song ‘Smelly Cat’.

As much as they are different from each other, they always have one other character that makes sure she is in every season of Friends, and one way you will know about who she is, by her laugh.

download

But their favorite place is hanging out in Central Perk, their favorite coffee shop that you’ll always see them in if they aren’t at Monica’s or Joey’s/Chandler’s apartment when they are all together, you can see the love that they all have for each other.

download.jpg

This show is something that is for everyone, whether you want to laugh, smile, or cry, they will always be there for you.

What do you think about Friends? Is it on your playlist of favorites? Let me know in the comments down below!

The Art of Love (Friday’s Short Stories)

The Art of Love

Hey Dearies! I know this one is a little late, but I wanted to make sure I took a little extra time on this one. It’s not exactly like the prompt, but I did add in a little twist of it.

Two dirt-poor art students survive by sharing a nasty little apartment above a bodega. They struggle through four years, barely making ends meet, comforting one another through tragedies and triumph, but never openly admit how they feel about each other…until they graduate, and one of them gets a job in another city. Is it too late to confess their love?

Living in New York City wasn’t easy, let alone being a paint. Jackie Brown wanted to see her name on every billboard, street store, and all over New York. Since she was 3, that was always her dream.

Her father was a famous painter himself, as so as her mother. Once they had her, Jackie’s mother felt that her child was holding her back from becoming famous and so let Jackie and her husband to New York.

Last time Jackie saw her mother, was 10 years ago. Now, she was 23, fresh from college and off to make her hobby into her dream, however, New York was expensive. Jackie’s father wanted to come with her, to make sure her dreams really did come true, but Jackie didn’t want her father to help her on that journey.

She wanted this one by herself.

After being in New York for a few days, she managed to find a place for her to stay in. Kenny Hunt was her only available option, especially with money being so tight, she didn’t want to be left on the streets.

Climbing up to the 3rd floor, onto an old book store, she knocked onto the door, with the faded ‘3C’ that sat on an old wooden door. After a minute or two, the door finally opened with Kenny behind it.

“Jackie, right?” He asked.

“Yes.” She nodded, giving him a soft smile as he opened the door more for her to come in. “Thank you again for this.”

She turned to face him, looking at his dirty blond hair and bright blue eyes. As she gazed into his eyes, he looked like he was hurt inside, like someone has ripped his heart out from his body and stuffed it in a trash can.

Kenny turned away, walking back to his canvas, ignoring her. As she looked around, she notices this was a very old room, it was a room that didn’t look like it was used for sleeping at all. The wide-open space had faded, cracked dark wooden floors. The paint used for the walls was faded and looked like there once were mirrors that inclosed the place.

As she turned to her left, there was a mini hall, looked like there were a few other rooms and hopefully a bathroom. Behind her was a stove, sink, and fridge that looked out of place from this room, but more than an old dance studio was out of place for any of this.

She didn’t see any mattresses or beds for her, in the opened space. Instead, the opened spaces were covered with canvases, paint, and brushes. It was like heaven to Jackie, making this choice the best one she had made for herself.

“Where can I put my stuff?” She asked, as his blue eyes looked up from the canvas.

“Down the hall to the right. Just don’t go into my room.” Kenny snapped as he went back to painting. Jackie was curious to know what he was painted but instead went to put her stuff away.

After being there for a few weeks, Jackie got herself comfortable, but Kenny seemed to rather ignore her. She had tried to work up the courage to place an empty canvas on one of the many empty easels, but hadn’t.

Brushstroke after brushstroke, she watched him from afar, not wanting her to see her eyes on him, she watched him move the brush back and forth like it was a dance he knew how to dance. Not to mention she couldn’t help but notice his arms had a few tattoos, but the one that caught her eye the most was the tree tattoo inside his left arm.

She wanted to ask him about it, it was the only one that she had noticed that was fairly new to his body, as the other tattoos he had were more faded. It took her a minute to realize that the tattoo was the tree from Lord of the Rings.

She got up and walked out of her room and slowly approached Kenny. He looked up for a second but turned away back to his piece. As she got closer, she noticed that his painting wasn’t of any object or item, that she thought it was, it was simply a mess of different colors of blacks and greys.

It was different from what her parents have painted before, but they were more into landscapes, such as mountains, hills, forests, and lakes. This was solid, but it spoke to her that something in his past had made him paint this way.

“What?” Kenny snapped, jumping Jackie, as she was zoned into his piece, rather than him.

“I-I was wondering if could use that spare easel?” She spoke nervously, she wanted to ask about his tree tattoo, but she had forgotten it, getting lost in his eyes.

Kenny changed his emotion, looked rather more confused like he didn’t think she would ask something from him so bold. “You paint too?” He asked as she nodded.

“I do, my parents do, too.” She said as he looked at her.

“Go for it.” He said, going back to his easel. Jackie was so enlightened that she ran to grab her supplies and set them up next to the easel.

Over the next couple of months, the started to bond over their love of painting and art. As much as they wanted to spend all of their time painting, Kenny had a part-time job down at the book store and Jackie had just gotten a job as a florist, that was also down the street.

Jackie had just finished her latest creation, it was of a couple, standing in the middle of the rain, sharing a deep kiss, with the background having rainfall underneath them all, not giving a care in the world as to what would happen.

It reminded her of her last love, that were that couple she painted. He had her heart, but she didn’t want it. She had gotten pregnant, but ended up losing the baby, which changed their relationship although. He wanted to settle down and build a giant family, as Jackie just wanted to paint and when she was ready, start a family.

That was their last kiss goodbye. They didn’t want to hold each other back and wanted to have one last kiss before they moved onto different lifestyles. Hence, why she wanted to leave New York.

Kenny came over, as she signed off of her painting. “Incredible, really.” He touched her shoulder as she watched him look into every detail she put into the painting. “What are going to call it?”

Jackie took a minute to think about it, coming up with the titles of her paintings was harder than it was for her parents. “Not sure yet.” Still admiring her work.

She glanced at Kenny’s easel, he had just a blank canvas, naked, as Jackie liked to call it. Ever since she started to paint in the same room as him, his painting has changed from dark and depression, to more artistic and creative, making them more appealing to the eye.

Her heart fluttered each time he would come up to her and watched her paint, as she would do the same. She had tried to open him and get him to talk to her, but he was a locked door, not letting anyone in.

That all changed. Jackie was working at her job when she got a phone call from the office from her mother. She wanted to let her know she was dying from cancer. That was the real reason why she left in the first place, she didn’t want Jackie to see her.

Jackie’s heart dropped as she got off the phone, it all made sense, she wondered why her father was always upset and depressed, but she thought it was because her mother had left, choosing her work over the family when really she was getting treatment for her breast cancer.

After work, when she got home, she didn’t say anything to Kenny, as he watched as she sadly went into her bedroom. She wasn’t in the mood to talk, didn’t even feel like painting, which was a first for her because she had always loved to paint.

“Jackie?” Kenny called out, but there was no reply from her, he didn’t want to intrude. It made him worry about her. Her happy self was what was keeping him inspired to paint masterpieces ever since his little sister had passed away.

Instead of answering Kenny, she curled herself up in a ball on her mattress and started to cry. There was nothing she could do, but felt like she needed to do something. She wanted to go to her happy place, but painting sounded so foreign to her.

She felt Kenny’s eyes on her like he was drilling a laser into her head. As much as she wanted Kenny’s attention, there was something more that she wanted. A distraction.

Siting up from her bed, she looked over at Kenny, as he sat on the bed beside her, gazing at his blue eyes, but her eyes wandered to his lips. “Is everything okay?” He asked, but instead of answering him, she leaned into his faces and pressed her lips against his.

Kenny froze for a second, not realizing that her lips were upon his, he didn’t know how to react, but before he could embrace the kiss, she had pulled away. Kenny’s mind was questioning if he should kiss her back or leave the room awkwardly.

Jackie looked back at him, waiting for his response, but his face looked confused. Did she kiss him wrong? She thought, but maybe it was too sudden for him, she thought again.

Until he caught her off guard and very slowly placed his lips together with hers.

She was lost into the moment, embracing Kenny’s warmth that she so craved, however, instead of taking their clothes off to get further lost into each other’s arms, they both laid down on her bed, and had him embrace her, snuggling up close together and making her feel something that she hadn’t felt in a long time.

Safe.

As he brushed a strand of hair from her face, she finally spoke, telling him about her mother and her condiction.

“Go to her, you should spend your last moments together,” Kenny spoke, as much as it killed him to see her go, not knowing how long she would be gone for or if she would ever come back, he didn’t want to miss out on those final moments that he did with his sister.

“I can’t, I don’t have the money,” Jackie said as he understood her situation, he was in the same boat, being an inspiring artist wasn’t easy. He had been doing odd jobs, just to save up for an apartment, but it was never enough.

The next morning, Jackie was left alone in her bed, Kenny had stayed with her all night long, just to make sure she was okay, but he wasn’t next to her. She got up and started getting ready for the day, when she saw a note on the fridge, with enough money to get her to see her mother and possibly come back.

‘Don’t miss another moment away from your mother. You’ll regret it in the end.’ – Kenny

She smiled, as he was right. Quickly, she packed a few things and took the train to the other side of town, trying to make sure she was able to get to the hospital in time. Once she arrived, she was greeted by her father.

He hugged her tightly in his arms. “I missed you, buttercup.” He said, calling her by her childhood nickname. He started calling her that when she picked out some flowers from their garden and they happened to be buttercups.

Jackie didn’t want to let go from her father’s embrace, but slowly turned to look into the small hospital room, she could see her mother, looking pain and cold.

Her eyes started to water as he came closer to her mother’s bed, she was still alive but looked like she was barely holding on. “Mommy?” She spoke, making her mother awake and open her eyes to see her daughter.

Jackie came closer to her mother and hugged her tightly as she could, she was so weak, but was glad her daughter was sitting next to her. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.” Her mother spoke, as she held onto Jackie’s hand.

“Don’t worry about it, what matters is that I’m here for you,” Jackie said, kissing her mother’s hand and wiping her tears.

Jackie shared everything that was going on in her life, now. She even talked about Kenny, to her surprise, her mother said that he would be perfect for her. They played a few games, up until her mother was too weak to do so.

She died 2 months later after their last game of Uno. The last thing Jackie told her was to never give on chasing your dreams. Jackie knew she would never forget, but it made her think about Kenny. He was her new dream now, she needed to share her life with someone and he was perfect for her.

After the funeral, she said her last goodbyes to her father and headed back on the train, even though her mother had passed, she was wanting to get back to Kenny and to tell him how she felt about him.

Going up to their apartment, she was worried that he wouldn’t want to talk to her, after taking the money he gave to her to see her dying mother, but maybe he would. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door, watching Kenny stand in the middle of the studio, painting, he almost dropped his paintbrush when he saw her.

Jackie dropped her bag, and ran to him, embracing into his arms, not caring if he was covered in paint or not. She looked into his eyes and the waterworks just came down. He understood her pain as to lose something, but kept her in his arms.

“I missed you so much, Jackie. You have no idea.” He said, looking into Jackies eyes, wiping away the tears from her face, as he turned to face her to all the work he had done when she was gone. It was all pictures of her.

One of them was when she was puzzled on painting and ended up getting paint on her face. Another was of her dancing. The more she kept looking at the paintings, she realized that he returned the feelings for her, but there was one painting that caught her eye.

It was a painting of them, laying on her bed together, after their first kiss and how she told him about her mother. She didn’t know how he did it, but it was perfect. “I love this one,” Jackie said as Kenny came closer.

“Not as much as I love you,” Kenny spoke as Jackie stared at him in amazement. “I understand if you don’t return the feelings, but I do love you and I just needed to tell you.”

Jackie then pressed her lips against his, embracing his presence and telling him that she accepted his feelings for her. She pulled away, leaning their foreheads together as she smiled. “I love you too.”

Crafty Sassy – Crochet C2C Baby Doll Blanket (Beginner)

Hey Dearies! So, for our first pattern of the year, I decided to create something that’s a little different. For Christmas, my daughter got quite a bit of baby dolls. It got me thinking and searching on Pinterest, what ideas they had for baby dolls.

What really got me to create this idea is when my 2-year-old came up to me and said, “Mommy, baby is cold.” I could’ve given her one of her old receiving blankets that I still had, but what fun would that be? While she was napping, I crocheted her baby doll a blanket.

20200114_141649.jpg

Let’s talk about what you’ll need for this project:

  • Medium Yarn
    • I used I Love This Yarn in the color Green, Turquoise & Red Print.
    • You’ll need only 1 skein.
  • 4.0 mm hook
  • Sewing needle.

The blanket size is a 22×25 square project, you can, of course, add or decrease squares to fit a small or large size baby doll.

Repeat until you have 22 squares across. Once you do, after making your last square, slip stitch on the top of the square. (This is how you decrease). Chain 2 and make 3 double crochets in that chain 3 space.

Keep going until the other side has reached 25 squares and on that finally square, slip stitch on the top of the square. Chain 2 and make 3 double crochets in the chain 3 space. As you continue to go back and forth, you’ll notice the rows start to get smaller.

Once you are at your final stitch, slip stitch the top of that last square and fasten off.

Sew in any loose ends and you’re done!

There you have it! A perfect mini blanket for those baby dolls! Make sure you check back in next Tuesday, I’ll have a crocheted pillow that goes with this baby doll blanket set!

Unforgotten – Chapter 32

If you haven’t read Chapter 31, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2020/01/06/unforgotten-chapter-31/

Logan’s P.O.V
“So, what is the plan? What are we going to do about this?” I asked as I crossed my arms and stared at my Aunt Marie, waiting for her to say something that would change my mood that I was currently in. I knew what he wanted, but I wasn’t going to let my poor sister go through what our mother did.

“Well, we just have to keep an eye out for him. I’m sure he’s on his way here.” She said. I rolled my eyes.

“I’m talking about when he gets here. What are we going to do to protect my sister!” I shouted, which I could see how my Aunt was getting scared of me raising my voice, but no one was making a game plan.

I looked over at my father, I could see that he was thinking of a plan or some way that he could protect us from him. I just didn’t know what he wanted with me.

“Logan, that’s all we can do. As long as he doesn’t know how to get in, you two will be safe.” My Aunt tried to explain, I looked over at Athena, as she looked worried. I looked back at our father again, as he finally put his hands down.

“Marie, enough!” He took a deep breath and looked up to her. “We can’t just sit here like ducks, we need a fucking plan, one that will protect my children and you. I’m sure he’s gonna want to go after you, too.” Our father then sat up from his chair and stormed out.

“One way or another, I’m gonna kill him.” He said as he walked out of the room.

I looked over at everyone, they were just as worried as Athena was, expect James. I could see the concern in the eyes as he looked down, holding my Aunt’s belly. I knew he was worried about what would happen if Lucas ever did see her again. Especially with the fact that she’s pregnant.

I looked over at Dean, as he nodded his head for me to follow him, once we left the room, we headed towards his hall. “I have a plan, Logan. Whether our sisters are involved, we will be ready for anything.” As we enter the hall, I saw my father working on some weapons inside his home.

I looked all around the hall and saw decades of different weapon styles and from assassin blades to plain jane pocket knives.

My father looked up to me. “Here’s the plan, but don’t tell your sister.”

Athena’s P.O.V.
I watched as Dean and Logan left the table hall, but I glanced over at my Aunt Marie. I figured she would have a plan in motion, but nothing she was saying was making me feel any safer.

“Logan’s right so is Dad. We need a plan.” I repeated, but my Aunt Marie just started to cry, holding James’ hand. She looked so sad but kept rubbing her stomach, which was starting to grow, holding a miracle of hers.

“I’m so sorry, but I can’t think of what do to. As long as he doesn’t find out where this place is, you’ll be fine, but then again-” My Aunt Marie paused when my father’s cell phone started ringing, as he must have forgotten about it before he left.

I got up and walked over to it, slowly picking it up and answering it. “Hello?” I said. Something about this called made me shiver.

“Well, well, isn’t it my Athena. You sound just like your mother.” His voice make my skin crawl, knowing the information that I did know about him, it made my blood boil. “Why don’t we finally meet? I would love to see you and your mother again.”

“Why would I want to meet someone like you?” I snapped, but I could hear him chuckling on the other line.

“Well, my sweets, you will meet me real soon, whether you want to or not. If you want your family to live, you’ll do what I say.”

“What makes you think that I’m going to listen to you?” I left the room, waiting for him to answer, but he stayed silent.

“Because I’m already here.” My heart fell, I rushed away, looking back at the door that was keeping us safe, it was opened. Before I could answer, I felt the phone call to the floor and someone grabs me, holding their hand to my mouth.

“Hello, my Athena. Ready to finally be mine?” Lucas said as everything went black.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Marie’s P.O.V.
“James, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I feel so hopeless.” I said, as soon as everyone left. I knew they wouldn’t want me here when they find out that others could and would help Lucas find this place.

“We will figure out a way, but you should have told them that someone else could’ve told Lucas where this place was,” James spoke, as he held my hand.

I smiled as he placed a kiss on my hand, then placing a kiss on my stomach. “Just focus on this little one, I’ll talk to the others and see if we can come up with something.” He helped me up as we held hands together, but something in my gut was telling me something was wrong.

“Wait a minute,” I stopped to run over to the cell phone that was laying on the ground, but Athena was nowhere to be found. “Where’s Athena?”

I looked over and all around but didn’t find her. I then headed to her hall and ran over to her cottage. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. James finally caught up to me and tried to kick the door open. “It’s spellbound.”

I peeked into the windows and saw Athena tied up to her chair, dressed in her ritual dress. I could see tears falling from her face and blood dripping down from her head.

Then I saw him, he looked at me dead in the eyes, his eyes were coal-black, but he had aged a bit since I last saw him.

“Well, well, isn’t it Marie, the one that promised me I would get Jade, but yet has been getting busy with Mandy’s ex,” Lucas said than he looked over at James. “Boy, James, looks like you both haven’t aged a day. How was it being vampires?”

He grinned as I was shocked, only a few people knew we were vampires, I made sure of that, but how would he know? He was in jail for all those years ago. Jade and Tanner made sure that he wasn’t allowed to get out. Someone must have bailed him out and told him, but who?

“Marie, is that you?” I turned around to the voice that I’ve been missing for years. The voice that I fell in love with, but it couldn’t be so. As I turned around, I saw Eli standing there. “My Marie, my love. I’ve missed you.”

We embraced into a hug, as I couldn’t believe it was so. Tears kept falling down my cheeks, but I kept reliving that flashback of him being staked.

“Y-your alive?” I said as I pulled away and looked at him. He was still the same as I remember, also still a vampire. “I saw you get staked, we both did. How is this possible?”

I pulled away and held onto James. James saw it happen and he knew how heartbroken I was after losing Eli, I shut off my humanity for him, but James helped me regained it again. Without James, I don’t know if I would be able to be without Eli.

“I can’t tell you, but you need to come with me, both of you.” As Eli placed cuffs over our wrists and grabbed us both. “I’m sorry, I’ll explain later, but for now, just go with it.”

Movie Review: The Kissing Booth (2018)

The Kissing Booth is a trailer that I saw on Facebook and I wanted to see it so bad! Although the movie didn’t receive great reviews from those very critical critics, I thought it was a super funny teen romance that all of us girls wished we had.

This movie was actually a book, I’m surprised I haven’t read it, but it’s on the list of my must-reads! There are 3 books to this saga, but we are only going to talk about the movie in this review. Not to mention, this book was originally published on Wattpad, the currently place to find any of my works as well!

9780385378680.jpg

The movie is about Elle Evans and Lee Flynn, the best of friends, and how they decided to run a kissing booth for their dance team, especially since Elle has never been kissed, but runs a kissing booth. However, Elle and Lee have to try and get Noah Flynn, Lee’s older brother, to do the kissing booth.

The spin on this kissing booth, is that it’s not just one person kissing everyone, they switch it up, having different guys and girls for the booth, however, the kisser is blindfolded.

MV5BYWUxNDZhMDctMjU5Mi00YWYyLWFiMmYtYmE0MjFkNmFlMWU4XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNzI1NzMxNzM@._V1_.jpg

With that being said, you would think the story is about Lee and Elle getting together as a couple, but you are so wrong! Since they grew up as best friends, they have a list of rules for their friendship. With one of the rules that Noah being off-limits.

Basically, it’s a teen romance that can’t happen, but it does. I don’t want to spoil the entire movie either.

If you are looking for a fun girls night flick or want something completely out of your comfort zone, this is definitely worth a watch! Yes, the romance may be cheesy or unlikely to happen in real life, but it’s a fantasy that all of us have either dreamed about or wanted to try it out.

Not to mention, as if they would have a rich house to get drunk and party in, which is what a lot of critics complained about, or what they didn’t like about the film. I understand they don’t like it, but as if they didn’t do that when they were teens? Not to mention, throwing a party, as a teenager today, would have been shut down as soon as a bunch of cars started to be parked around the house.

This is a movie I can definitely watch over and over again. However, this might not be something your spouse will want to watch with you all the time. I can see this being on a mixed movie playlist for a girl’s night in if any of us moms get the chance to have one.

Overall, most people look at the critic reviews before actually listening to the fans or watching the film itself. There are a lot of movies that critics have trashed on, but yet the fans have a more positive outcome about the movie. To me, I trust watching the movie itself before going ahead and judging it.

If you would like to watch this movie, it is currently streaming on Netflix and they also have a sequel in the works that has yet to have a date release on when it’s coming out.

What do you think about The Kissing Booth? Have you watched it or is it something you haven’t seen yet? Let me know what you think about the movie done below!

The Scars He Left Behind (Friday’s Short Stories)

‘Hey, Dearies! So, this is the first, of many, short stories that I’ll be posting every Friday. I’ll be posting the writing prompt or idea from where I got it from, and then you’ll get to read my version of the story. These are all fiction, nothing is real unless said otherwise. These are something fun to do and if you want to comment or send me a version of your story, from the prompt, I’ll be happy to read it and possibly post it on my blog, if you would like!’

Tell the story of a scar, whether a physical scar or emotional one. To be a writer, said Stephen King, “The only requirement is the ability to remember every scar.”

The Scars He Left Behind

Looking up from the stars, Lela was waiting for something to catch her eye, whether it be a shooting star or the moon turning full as it looked down upon her. The full moon gave

Lela a sense of power, made her feel safe.

She usually did this every night, feeling the hot summer day finally cool off and letting the dark sky raise over the town like a blanket, hiding us underneath it. It was her favorite time of day.

Until now.

Things have changed for her, she had a busy plate, going into her 3rd year of high school. She wasn’t a straight-A student but did enough work to make sure she passed her classes. This year was different, not only had she given up on love, but she found it again.

Or so she thought.

It started out so simple, she thought, but how wrong was she. It started with a random message on a chat room, she was on there talking to one of her two best friends about the excitement that happened during lunch, a fight broke out and they got to witness it first hand.

It was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to them on that day, but for Lela, it was him.

The message from him popped up on her screen, she didn’t know what to do, nor react. She never had a guy take interest in her since middle school, but even then, she still didn’t know what to say, nor how to respond.

‘Can you help me meet Sarah? She seemed to log off.’

Little did Lela know that would be the start of a new chapter for her, not her friend Sarah.

‘Can’t you ask her yourself?’

Lela snapped back, thinking that this man wouldn’t want any interest in her. Why would they?

‘Sadly, I can’t seem to find her. I was supposed to meet her at the library, but I can’t seem to find her?’

Lela laughed at the message. She remembered Sarah was meeting up with her mystery guy today, but with midterms just about to start, she ended up setting up her date at the library with him.

Lela decided to stay home since she had to make sure to be home for her younger brother.

‘Didn’t you use her profile picture?’

Lela tried to explain, as much as she didn’t want to continue the conversation, she felt that she had to at least help him. Although, she chuckled at the fact that he didn’t have much common sense and wondered what Sarah saw in him.

She decided to do some snooping of her own and clicked on his profile picture. He looked semi-cute, or average. He wasn’t fat, nor was he too skinny. His dark hair complemented his eyes. As she kept looking, it seems that she found that they had more in common than she thought.

Lela thought he was kinda cute, but when she saw the year of his birth, she froze. Not only was Sarah talking to a much older guy, but a guy that would be legally called a man.

Chills went down Lela’s back as the conversation continued. Not only had it changed from helping him find Sarah, but his interest in her instead.

That was only the beginning.

After that same conversation, things changed. Lela and this man got closer and not even the 3rd day of talking, they finally met. To her mother’s disgrace, she didn’t want to see her 15-year-old daughter with someone who was 5 years older but tried her best to fight it.

She didn’t know what else to do, she banned her from seeing him, but that just made Lela want to be with him much more. The more the mother forbid it, the more she snuck around to see him.

It had been a week together for Lela and him, but in that week she lost so much. She didn’t know how it happened, it just did. His tongue mouthed words that made her jump into his bed. Making it seem that her virginity was something he wanted to take from her. Claim in with the others he took before hers, add it to his collection.

Once it was gone, she never got it back. The worst part is what came after that.

For months, she tried to build a so-called relationship with him, but he didn’t seem invested in her. Instead, his games came before her, the only time he wanted her was when he needed to be pleasured by her.

The times she did nor didn’t, he still went off and found another woman to laid in his bed. Forgive and forget, she thought over and over, the many times that he cheated. She didn’t know what else to do.

The scar.

He left two on that day in June. The heat was too hot to do much, but he still managed to leave a scar on her shoulder. She wanted to spend time with him, wanted to be apart of that world he was so attached too, but instead cut her left shoulder, and left her there, thinking she was wrong.

The second scar ended right in heart, making it seem like she might never find love again. Making it be more impossible or out of reach, just like the stars are from our grasp.

Once Lela had enough, she ended it, walking away from the first relationship she could ever call her own. She always looks down at that scar, to remind her that she is stronger than those dark times from where she got it from.

Looking back at the stars once more, she took a deep breath and smiled. Getting up from the patch of grass she was laying on and standing up tall, ready to walk into her next chapter, even with the scar he gave her.

Katie’s Blog Schedule for 2020

Hey Dearies! I know I’ve been a little late with the beginning of this year, but I wanted to give you another post for what to expect on my blog for 2020!

I know I haven’t been as active as I would like to be, but I’ve planned out a yearly schedule that should change that for this year. If you don’t already know, I’m currently enrolled in college and with that going on and being home with a 2 year, things can get crazy, but I’m going to try my best to stay on task as much as I can!

Make sure you are following me on my Facebook page, I’ll have more of my updates posted on there!

Alright, let’s get this started!

  • Monday’s – Unforgotten
    • I’m going to finish Unforgotten and then hopefully, I will have another story up, but it all depends of what I’ve got in my drive for books that I’ve either started or finished.
  • Tuesday’s -Crafty Sassy
    • This one isn’t going anywhere, but I’m going to mix it up with new patterns and new Top 10’s.
    • My Top 10’s will consist of free patterns that I go looking around on Pinterest.
    • I will also be doing a different crochet square a month, for those looking to start crocheting.
    • This year, I’m trying to get into knitting. I’ve been looking into it for a while, but I might be posting on it, depending on how zoned in I get into it.
  • Thursday’s – Gaming
    • This one isn’t set in stone, but I do want to get back into gaming. It helps me take a breather when I have a lot going on.
    • This mostly will be for Sims, Minecraft, and maybe a few others. I might do a gaming review on some other PC classic’s, such as Diner Dash or Fate. I’ll keep you all posted on that as well!
  • Friday’s – Short Stories
    • This is definitely happening for sure! Last year, I had the temperature blanket to do and I didn’t have enough time to get them out when I wanted to, so make sure to keep a close eye on Friday’s!
    • I’ll be using a website, that generates character names, genres, conflicts, etc, at random and turning them into a story! I also have a few prompts from my own as well that I would love to make into a short story.
    • So, if you miss my writings, this will be a guaranteed thing I will post on Friday!
  • Saturday’s – Reviews
    • I have mentioned that I’ve wanted to do reviews for a while, but haven’t had the time. Well, I’m gonna start too! Every Saturday will have a different review, such as Products, Movies, TV Shows, books, etc.
      • Products
        • This review is for anything that has peeked your interest, such as makeup, kitchenware, baby stuff, toys, or anything that you have thought of buying, but want to know if it’s worth it.
      • Movies
        • I love watching movies, especially with my daughter! So, don’t be surprised if you see a few Disney films and such.
        • The only ones you might not see on here will be anything scary. I don’t do horror, nor do I watch it. (Sorry to the horror fans out there!)
        • There will be a mix of Action, Romance, Comedy(Includes some stand-up), Chick Flix, Adventure, and a mix of kid shows as well.
      • TV Shows
        • Now, this one will have a mix of kids shows as well, since a lot of parents or new parents want to know what’s a good list of shows for their kids to watch. Or for yourself, after the kids have gone to bed.
        • Again, I don’t like anything horror-ish stuff, but don’t be shocked if you see The Walking Dead on here, as well.
        • I’m going to try and pick shows that are completely over, but if they are still running, I’ll comment whether I’m still watching it or not.
      • Books
        • My library is getting bigger by the moment and is the perfect time to get into writing reviews!
        • I know I only did one last year, yes only ONE, but I’m planning on changing that. I want to take more time to read and actually FINISH books that I’ve started.
        • There will be all kinds of genres, I’m willing to dip into more Stephen King type novels as well.
        • I will include a few audiobooks, but I live to read the physical book in person and without staring at a screen to read.
      • Random
        • This can be ANYTHING, and when I mean anything, it could be over game systems, apps, crochet stuff, knitting stuff, shoes, clothes, brands, basically anything that doesn’t fit in the categories above.
        • If you would like to request anything, I will have a post on my Facebook Page, asking at the beginning of the month on what you would like me to review.
        • This isn’t going to be an EVERY month review, but I will keep a list of the most popular and go from there!

Now, let’s talk about some other topics that I haven’t mentioned.

Mom Talk

This is still not going anywhere, I’ll be posting these randomly, since I’m currently raising a toddler, at the moment, so there will be a few posts about this stage and such. So, make sure to look out for potty training, how I deal with toddler fits, and so much more.

WWE

Sadly, I will be deleting all WWE stuff, since I have stopped watching it. It isn’t something I get as pumped up for anymore, sorry to all the fans that followed me for that. I’ll be removing all posts about it, to make room for newer ones.

Podcast

I’ll be getting rid of my podcasts as well, if you want to listen to them, they will be on my Youtube channel. I lost all motivation to start it back up again since most podcasters have one or more guest on their podcast.

My Youtube Channel

I’ll be working harder to post more stuff, such as gaming, crochet, knitting, etc. Anything of the sort, I will have a day of when I will be posting stuff.

Katie’s Craft Studio’s

People have been asking about this, my mini business, and what’s happening to it. I figured I would answer it on this post as well!

I’m still accepting orders, however, I’ll be posting dates of when I’ll be accepting them, I don’t want to get too overwhelmed. So, when I have classes, I won’t be accepting orders, which will be from January 21 – May 11, of this year.

So, from that timeline, I will not be accepting any orders. I will also make a note of that on my Facebook Page as well.

Again, I would like to thank all of my followers and supports, I couldn’t be doing this without you all! Let’s make 2020 the best year ever!

Unforgotten – Chapter 31

If you haven’t read Chapter 30, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/09/30/unforgotten-chapter-30/

Athena’s P.O.V.
As I looked around, I saw everyone partying, the house looked familiar as I walked around and noticed the photos on the walls. My heart dropped, they were my mother. I ran to find the nearest mirror. As I looked, I saw the vision of my mother, standing before me.

I must be dreaming. Something isn’t right.

“Jade, where are you?” I heard a female voice call as I left the bathroom, I bumped right into her. “There you are! We are about to go for a drive, you wanna come?” She asked as I wasn’t sure how to answer, but before I could, my body went after and spoke for me.

“No, I think I’m just gonna go in my room,” I said as she gave me a soft smile.

“Well, let me know if you change your mind.” She gave me a hug. “Love you, sis.” As she turned back into the living room, back to where the party was.
Sister? That must of been my aunt.

My body started moving towards a room, it was a pretty purple bedroom, as my head turned, I noticed the books that I couldn’t ever forget. My mother’s journals.

Before I can go to reach for them, a guy stopped me, shutting the bedroom door and smirking at me. “I’ve been wondering when I would get a chance to be alone with you.”
________________________________________________________________________________
I inhaled and sat right up, I kept breathing fast as I looked around my surroundings. I was in my cottage, I looked over and saw Dean next to me. “Thank god, your awake.” He gave me a hug. “I missed you so much.”

Missed me so much? How long was I out?

I hugged him back, his scent calmed me as I held on to him longer. I pulled away from his grasp and pulled his face into mine as I kissed his lips, wanting to make sure that I wasn’t still dreaming.

Once the kiss ended, I sighed in relief. Then I realized the one thing that worried me. Logan.

I scrambled to get up, but Dean stopped me from doing so. “Easy, what do you want to know?”

“Logan is the-” Dean interrupted me.

“Logan is fine, the real question is are you fine?” Dean asked as I was confused. I felt fine, but something changed about me. “You were out longer than Logan was, about a week.”
I was asleep for a week?

“I’m so confused, the last thing I remember is touching Logan and then drifting into a past memory of my mother,” I explained as I looked over to see my father standing in the doorway.

“Logan did, too. He was in James’ past memory.” He said, handing me a glass of water.

“Here, let me let the others know that you are awake.” Dean said as he kissed my forehead and left my room.
___________________________________________________________________________________
After I ate, showered and got dressed, I met up with everyone in the hall. My father ran out of Logan’s hall and towards us, holding his phone in hand. “It’s him.” He said, as I felt scared and unsure what his next move was going to be next.

“Hello, Athena and of course Logan.” His voice said as I trembled with fear. “I’m just letting you know that I know exactly where you are and I’m taking you both as well as your mother. I’ve waited too long for my family back.”

“I’ve already lost my wife, there is no way in hell you are taking my children,” Dad said as I could see the angry in his eyes, especially what he has done to mom and our aunt.

The line went silent as he hung up.

“I don’t care if I go to jail, but I’m killing him.” He said as he walked off. James looked over at Aunt Marie as she went after our father.

James looked at me and frowned. “I’m guessing you know the truth.” I nodded as he wrapped his arms around me. He pulled away and smiled. “I promise that you won’t go through the same thing your mother went through.”

Logan grabbed my hand and looked at me. “Come on, let’s talk.” He said, directing us towards his hall. He seemed different but calmer.

When we finally got into his hall, he sat down on one of the white porch chairs that were in front of his home. As I sat down, he faced the ocean, watching the waves back and forth along the beach.

“I now have a better understanding of James.” Logan looked over at me, holding out two bracelets in his hand, one pink and one blue. He handed me the pink bracelet. “James was headed over to the party and got into an accident. Lucas ran into him on purpose and made sure that he hit Mandy’s side.”

I held his hand, but he pulled away from my grasp. “You don’t understand, Athena, he wasn’t in love with Mom, but with her sister. They were together behind Lucas’ back and when he caught them, he decided that if he couldn’t have Mandy to himself, he would replace her with our mother.”

“That doesn’t make any sense, James and her told each other everything, he would’ve told her,” I said, can’t believe any of this.

“Mom loved James and he knew that if he were to choose her sister over her, she would never forgive him. Not to mention, James had enough shit going on at home, his father was beating him. Especially that night.” He explained as it didn’t make sense.

I stayed silent as I looked over the bracelet, there was a golden M charm that hung from it. “Where did you get these?”

“James had them. He wanted me to show you,” As he handed me the other bracelet where a gold ‘J’ charm hung from that one. “He bought them almost a year before Mandy died.” It made me think about what my aunt would’ve been like if she was still alive, but she wasn’t.

Looking back that the bracelets, I was tired of this problem, people getting killed and the ones they love is gone because of jealous. I wanted to change the problem that one person has been causing since before I was even born. He was going to pay.

Temperature Blanket Update – December 2019 (Finished)

Hey Dearies! I am finally finished with our 2019 temperature blanket! The reason it has taken me a few days to post, because I did have a gap where some more squares could’ve gone, so I crocheted some white ones to fill in the blanket.

The only thing I want to do next adds a simple single crochet border and crochet the numbers to make 2019 and add them to the blanket as well! However, I will try my best to post the update of the blanket on my Facebook Page and Instagram, so make sure you are following me on there to check it out!

December came and went as soon as it did! Lower temperature, lead to more blues and purples when it came to squares. I’m just so grateful that this project is now done and finished!

Makine a temperature blanket isn’t as easy, as I thought it was going to be, but I managed to create one! As this being my first blanket to ever work on, I’m really proud how it came out!

Here is the list of colors I used for the blanket:

20181222_124142
100 degrees – Fire Red (I Love This Yarn)
90 degrees – Pumpkin (Red Heart Super Saver)
80 degrees – Bright Yellow (Red Heart Super Saver)
70 degrees – Jelly Bean (I Love This Yarn)
60 degrees – Green (Main Stays Basic Yarn)
50 degrees – Turqia (Red Heart Super Saver)
40 degrees – Soft Blue (I Love This Yarn)
30 degrees – Dark Orchid (Red Heart Super Saver) *Changed to the following – Violet (Red Heart With Love)
20 degrees – Orchid (I Love This Yarn) *Changed to the following – Orchid (Red Heart Super Saver)
10 and below – Light Gray (I Love This Yarn)

How do you tell which color to use?

I, personally, go with the overall temperature. So, let’s go by today, for example:

Today in Maine, the overall temperature is 17 degrees. I would choose the light gray.

Let’s say that it was an overall temperature of 22 degrees, I would choose the Orchid color. All my temperatures, for my colored yarn, has to have the same number first number. If that makes any sense, I’m sorry if it doesn’t!

What was the highest temperature for this month?

Sadly, we didn’t get a 60-degree days, but have had quite of bit of 50 degree days, which isn’t bad, but I prefer my 60 degree days any day!

What was the lowest temperature for this month?

We did hit below 10 degrees, which isn’t fun, but now, I’ll be able to snuggle in this blanket to keep me nice and warm.

Do you post daily updates?

Yes, I do. On my Facebook page, I post a picture of the square for each day. I also tried to post every week’s worth, but it was hard to keep track of, so I’ll be posting monthly and daily instead.

If you haven’t liked my Facebook Page, here is the link below! It keeps you posted and updated on my temperature blanket and any updates for my blog and YouTube channel, as well!

https://www.facebook.com/katiesblog96971617/?ref=bookmarks

Thank you all for watching how this blanket turned out to be! I’m so glad that it’s finally done and the amount of support and motivation that I had was so helpful, so thank you to all that have watched this blanket go from just a few squares to a giant masterpiece!

Here is a slideshow of the progress of the blanket from month to month:

Note: The month of February, I forgot to take a photo of, but other than that they are all there!

Crochet Temperature Blanket: Tips and Tricks for Starting One

Hey Dearies! As you all know, I’ve been working on a temperature blanket all year long! If you are a follower and like my Facebook page, you will know that I have been posting updates and squares, as I go along, but because this was my first ever temperature blanket, I’ve picked up on some tips and tricks to help out anyone who wants to create one.

Now, I want to explain that a temperature blanket isn’t a bunch of granny squares that you sew together as you go. You can choose to use any type of blanket for this, although, if you want to do a C2C blanket, you’ll have to work on a lot of planning to make one of those. Here are a few examples:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Any blanket pattern you can think of, you can pretty much make it into a temperature blanket! If you are still confused about what a temperature blanket is, let me explain a little better:

A temperature blanket is when someone who knits or crochets the temperature of each day for a year. Using different colors to represent all of the temps.

That’s just a quick explanation of what it is. Let’s talk about what you are gonna need to do, in order to actually start this blanket. I really wished I did some more digging on what colors and how big or small I needed to make my squares.

Making a color chart

This is one of the most important things you need to think about before even starting the temperature blanket! I looked on Pinterest, just to get an idea on what others have done for their temperature blankets, but here’s mine:

20181222_124142
100 degrees – Fire Red (I Love This Yarn)
90 degrees – Pumpkin (Red Heart Super Saver)
80 degrees – Bright Yellow (Red Heart Super Saver)
70 degrees – Jelly Bean (I Love This Yarn)
60 degrees – Green (Main Stays Basic Yarn)
50 degrees – Turqia (Red Heart Super Saver)
40 degrees – Soft Blue (I Love This Yarn)
30 degrees – Dark Orchid (Red Heart Super Saver) *Changed to the following – Violet (Red Heart With Love)
20 degrees – Orchid (I Love This Yarn) *Changed to the following – Orchid (Red Heart Super Saver)
10 and below – Light Gray (I Love This Yarn)

See anything wrong with it? I had to scratch out the original colors, for a few of the temperatures, due to me not having enough yarn for a few of the temperatures. Not to mention, the way I planned this out, wasn’t the best idea. Let’s look at a few other peoples temperatures charts:

7a545-Untitled

I based my chart off of this person temperature chart, which isn’t a bad idea, but if you are going to do it this way, make sure you have a few skeins stocked for each color, which I did not, hence why I wouldn’t update on time because I ran out of color.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

These two examples are what I wished I went with because there are more colors for all the temperatures. When I mean by that, more colors means more yarn, but less likely of a chance of running out very quickly.

Not to mention, more colors, the more you’ll be able to have a rainbow blanket.

If you aren’t a big fan of rainbow colors, it doesn’t mean you have to do them. I’ve seen people do different shades of one color, with the added greys, browns, or whites added in.

image1_small.jpg

The best part of these, you can switch out the ‘purple’ color for any color you wish! Not only are these are a little different than the normal temperature blanket, but these would make a great gift to crochet the temperature of their baby’s first year!

With whatever you decide to do, making a chart by scratch or following someone else temperature chart, make sure you have the extra yarn for each temperature, just in case so you have back up!

-Picking out the supplies

This is another step that determines, not only how much yarn you’ll go through, but also how thick or thin your blanket will me. I used a size 5.0mm hook, which is the normal size that most projects require, I consider this to be the normal hook that most people and beginners, work with a lot.

Of course, you can change the hook to be bigger or smaller, depending on what you are going for.

Remember, the small the hook, the thinner or smaller your stitches will me.  The bigger the hook, the thicker or bigger your stitches will be.

Either way, whatever hook size you chose to use, should be decided on the type of yarn you use. Not all yarns are the same. For my temperature blanket, most of my yarn was a mix of ‘I Love This Yarn’ and ‘Red Heart Super Saver’.

20181222_122613.jpg

I do recommend using the SAME brand when it comes to your temperature blanket. If you want it to look good, I would use the same brand, but if you are going through your stash of yarn, that’s okay too.

If this is your first time creating a temperature blanket, using your stash or straps isn’t a bad idea, but will give you a chance to make trial and errors, when starting this project.

-How to start working at it?

Once you have the temperature color chart ready and what type of supplies you need, its time to make time for this project. Since you are crocheting a color according to the temperature, doing it every day can be a challenge or you may not have the time.

Writing the temperatures is never a bad idea, but I also found it very helpful, especially when I get behind or run out of yarn, you can always look back and have the temperature written down and ready to go when you need it so.

I want to say that I used to crochet a square a day, which wasn’t a bad idea, but sometimes I would forget to do so. That’s why I started writing down the days and what their temperatures were so that I could catch up during the weekend.

This system not only made it easier but also gave me more time to spend with the project itself. Whatever works for your schedule.

-Don’t forget to have fun!

Temperature blankets always sound fun to make in the beginning, but don’t just work on that project, have a few mini-projects to work on along with your temperature blanket. Sometimes only working on a temperature blanket can become boring, especially if you have been doing the same stitch.

If you are like me, and only thought of having one project at a time, versus working on 5 to 6 unfinished projects. I didn’t think I could be someone that got bored, but I understood that once you start a big project, it can get bored or old faster if that’s the only one you are currently working on.

I’ve learned that having a few or more projects unfinished is okay to have, but it keeps the balance of making sure that you are always doing something different versus repeating the same stitch over and over again.

da9b6-1

That’s all the tips and tricks I have for you this year! I’m not sure if I’m going to be making a temperature blanket for 2020, but if I do, I’ll let you all know all the details when I do.

Are you working on a temperature blanket? If so, what design are you going for? Let me know in the comments!

Make sure to follow me on my Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram, to keep up with what my final result will be when I finish my 2019’s temperature blanket. Not to mention, I’m usually active on Facebook, especially when it comes to my blog.

And also, have a Happy New Year!

Crafty Sassy 2019 Pattern Recap

Hey Dearies! Sadly, 2019 is coming to the end and I posted my final pattern for this year, but I wanted to do a recap on all the patterns that I have shared with you for the year of 2019!

I will be doing a mini description of them and adding the link, just in case you would like to check out that post or you missed it.

Crochet Mug/Coffee Cozy w/ Pocket

20190108_121100.jpg

This one was super fun to make! I wanted to have a mug cozy that worked for both mugs and regular coffee cups, not to mention, having a pocket for holding sugar or a tea packet, especially if you are on the go!

Crochet Coin/Gift Card Purse

20190205_210348.jpg

I came up with this idea for my daughter since she was only a year old, this purse fit her size. Not to mention, I wanted to make sure it would fit the size for a gift card because I didn’t find any patterns that looked this cute!

Crochet Stuffed Easter Egg

20190226_112352.jpg

This one I thought about selling these with a basket that I made during Easter, but they were a pain in the butt to make, so I decided to have the pattern free for all of you! They look perfect for baby’s first Easter!

Crochet Tablet Cover

20190312_090346.jpg

I made this for my kindle, since the case it came in was very broken, not to mention, I wanted to try this pattern out for it. However, I made it too small, as to why I choose to work around it with a different color. But in the end, I came out really cute!

Crochet Completely Solid Granny Square

20190416_084708.jpg

I wasn’t going to post this pattern, but at the time, I was working on a project and was looking everywhere for a pattern of a completely solid granny square. I figured there was someone else that was looking for the same thing. These are perfect for creating a pixel blanket, however, it will take forever to sew them together.

Crochet Adult Size Dragon Ball Z Hat

20190521_164846.jpg

My fiance requested this one, saw it on Pinterest and I had to make him one. Sadly, the owner of the original hat didn’t sell the pattern, but the hats themselves, so I decided to create it but looking at the picture, which is harder than it looks, but not impossible.

Crochet Ice Pop Cozy

20190611_101847.jpg

These were pretty simple to make and when I first got into crocheting, ice pop cozies are one of the basic projects that every beginner should make because they not only give you some practice working in rounds but are really easy and quick to make quickly for a craft fair.

Crochet Striped Washcloth

20190709_123421.jpg

Usually, washcloths are the first thing beginners make, when they first start to get into crocheting, but I didn’t make one until a customer asked me. Don’t get me wrong, making washcloths were on my list to make, but I wanted to do something that was a challenge for myself.

Crochet Circle Coaster

20190716_095621.jpg

Coasters are another fun and cool idea to make, if you have been following for a while, you know that I love to crochet coasters! The only downfall with some of these coasters that they have out there, they don’t make them big enough for a normal size mug, I make sure to make my coasters to be as big, if not bigger, for all mug sizes.

Crochet C2C Phone Case

20190723_094737.jpg

Ever since I learned the C2C stitch, I love working with it! It’s just so much fun to create and so many ideas I can’t wait to make in the future with it! Once you know how to work with the C2C stitch, the ideas of making pixel designs are endless!

Crochet C2C Wrist Pocket

20190730_085129.jpg

Again, this year I was trying out new patterns that had to do with the C2C stitch. I figured this idea would be useful for holding cash, when out and about. Or for kids who lose their teeth. Another idea would be to use this to hold your buttons or stitch markers as you crochet or knit!

Crochet Can Cozies

20190806_162214.jpg

Cozies are also one of my favorite things to make, as well! Whether they are for cans, mugs, or coffee cups, I love to decorate my drinks, cold or hot! Don’t be surprised to see some more of them coming up in 2020.

Crochet Basic Square Coaster

20190813_083031.jpg

As I have said, I love making coasters! You’ll be most likely seeing more of them in the new year, but I want to make it more creative and festive for all the seasons and holidays.

Crochet Travel Bag

20190816_160820.jpg

Crocheted bags and purses are always something that I loved to see made, they aren’t always the easiest bags to make, but seeing how creative some of the bags come out is so amazing! Made this one for my niece, she loved it!

Crochet Halloween Coaster

20191001_160937.jpg

These coasters aren’t just for Halloween, but if you try out different colors, you can make them for any time of year! This one goes with a placemat, which I love the placemat sets that have coasters!

Crochet Halloween Placemat

20191009_130822.jpg

Placemats are another pattern that I hope you will see this new year! These aren’t the ones you see all the time, but placemats are something that I think brings out a kitchen or dining room nicely.

Crochet C2C Scarf

20191213_205336.jpg

Scarfs are a first for me to make this year and I hope to come up with more fun and bright ideas as well! This idea came from the C2C Grinch scarf but made it like a candy cane or peppermint stick.

Crochet Child Size Mittens

20191213_205605.jpg

Are these super cute? Yes, but they were a real pain in the butt to make, especially when it came to the thumb part of the mitten. Not to mention, I wanted to make my nieces and nephews all a set, but because of how I don’t like working in small circles, I ended up making something else instead.

Crochet Child Size Hat w/ Pom Pom

20191213_205419.jpg

Last, but not least, the hats! These are based on how the Dragon Ball Z hat, but sized to fit a child. When it comes to hats, go bigger than the actual size. Going bigger isn’t a bad idea because, knowing how fast kids grow, they can just grow into them.

There they are! All the patterns from 2019! I know I haven’t been as active as I wanted to, but with starting college and being a stay at home mom with a 2-year-old, it’s been really busy!

However, I am planning out how I want to be more active for 2020. If you have any ideas or have something you would like me to create or come up with, feel free to let me know!

And as always, make sure to follow me on my Facebook page, Instagram, and Twitter. I’m more active on my Facebook, so make sure you are following!

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the year and we will see you all back in 2020 for new patterns, crafts, stories, and so much more!

Temperature Blanket Update – November 2019

I know this post has been way overdue, with my college classes and the holidays being around the same time, I have put this project on due, but now that I am currently on ‘break’ for college and holidays are just about over, I can put my focus on finishing this blanket.

Now that the temperature has gone down, for November, it has been getting cold, and we even hit the 20s. Lower the temps, more chance for snow and we have gotten a few snowstorms up here in Maine.

20191228_142604.jpg

We only have a month left! I can’t wait for this project to be completed, not only does this take forever to make, but it was also a pain in the butt for me to do, just because of how unprepared I was, but I will make sure to create on a post on how I would change or become more prepared on creating a temperature blanket.

As always, here is the list of colors and what temperatures they represent:

Well, we haven’t seen anything higher than 50s degrees, which is cold, but I would prefer 60 degree days. As we get closer to the end of the year, we most likely won’t see anything warmer than 50 degrees.

What was the lowest temperature for this month?

We actually hit 20 degrees a few times this month, but nothing colder than that and we had to make sure we were bundled up. Best part about making this blanket during the winter, it definetly keeps you warm while you add the squares to the blanket.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Child Size Hat w/ Pom Pom (Easy)

Merry Christmas! This will be the last pattern I will be posting for 2019! This one is also another gift that I made for my nieces and nephews, this actually goes along with the mittens I posted a few days ago.

20191213_205502.jpg
The pattern for the mittens will be at the bottom of the post!

When it comes to crocheting hats, I’ve learned to go big versus going by the actual size the pattern is intended for, especially when it comes to babies and child sizes. For the adults, it’s easier to pick a size that fits all. Having the hat be bigger also gives them that extra growing space, so if now they don’t fit in it just right, they’ll grow into it.

Here’s what you will need:

  • Medium Size Yarn
    • I chose a light and dark pink, that matches the mittens, but you can change it whatever color or colors you prefer.
  • Size 6 mm hook
    • You can use whatever size hook, change the size to make it bigger or smaller.
  • Sewing needle

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Child Size Mittens (Easy)

Hey Dearies! I have a few patterns that I want to get out to you guys before Christmas! I didn’t know how these would come out, but I’m hoping that they fit my niece!

If you are like me and are rushing to finish last-minute projects in time for Christmas, well, you aren’t alone! I know tons of people who are working to get their hand-made gifts done in time.

So, this is actually part of a set and I’m gonna get the hat pattern out as soon as I can.

20191213_205502.jpg

Here’s what you will need:

  • Medium Size Yarn
    • I am using Red Heart, you can choose one color or two!
  • 4.25mm hook
    • This is supposed to be a ‘child’ size, but if it doesn’t look big enough for a child or the size you are looking for, you can always go up a hook size or use 2 strands of yarn instead of just one.
  • Sewing Needle
  • Stitch Marker
    • This is needed! If you don’t have a stitch marker, you can always use a paper clip, safety pin, or even a bobby pin.
  • Measuring tape or ruler

Let’s begin!

Mitten

Chain 2.

Round 1: In the second chain from the hook, make 6 single crochets. DO NOT JOIN! Place your stitch marker in the last single crochet you made. You’ll be moving this stitch marker to each round and in the last stitch.

Round 2: Make 2 single crochets in each stitch. (12 sc)

Round 3: *Single crochet in the next stitch, make 2 single crochets in the next stitch* Repeat 6 times. (18 sc)

Round 4: *Single crochet in the next 2 stitches, make 2 single crochets in the next stitch* Repeat 6 times. (24 sc)

Round 5: *Single crochet in the next 3 stitches, make 2 single crochets in the next stitch* Repeat 6 times. (30 sc)

Round 6: Single crochet in each stitch until the piece measures the length of your fingers or the length you need them at. Make sure to keep moving the stitch marker to the end of each row. Don’t fasten off!

Creating the Thumb Opening

Round 1: Single crochet in the first 15 stitches, chain 10 (this is for the thumb opening), single crochet in the last 15 single crochet.

Round 2: Single crochet in each stitch and chain around. (40 sc)

Round 3: Single crochet in each stitch around.

Round 4: *Single crochet in the next 7 stitches, skip the next single crochet* Repeat 5 times. (35 sc)

Round 5: Single crochet in each stitch around.

Round 6: *Single crochet in the next 6 stitches, skip next single crochet* Repeat 5 times. (30 sc)

Round 7: Single crochet in each stitch around.

Round 8: *Single crochet in the next 5 stitches, skip next single crochet* Repeat 5 times. (25 sc)

Round 9-11: Single crochet in each stitch around. If you want to, switch to a different color for the cuff part of the mitten. Don’t fasten off.

Cuff

Note about creating the cuff, when we are creating the cuff, we are working back and for creating the ‘ribbing’ effect. At the end of every other row, make sure to slip stitch to attach it to the mitten.

Row 1: Slip stitch in the next stitch, chain 9, single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook (In the back loops only) and in each of the remaining chains across, slip stitch in the next 2 stitches of the last round of the mitten. (8 sc)

Row 2: Skip the slip stitches, working in the back loops only, single crochet in each stitch across. Turn.

Row 3: Chain 1, working in the back loops only, single crochet in each stitch across, slip stitch in the next 2 stitches of the last round of the mitten.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the ribbing has been made around the last row of the mitten. Fasten off, leaving a long end for sewing the ribbed cuff together.

Thumb

You can use the same color as your mitten is, or mix it up and do what I did and have the cuff match the thumb part of the mitten! Or try a different color to go with the mix!

Round 1: Join the yarn with a slip stitch anywhere in the thumb opening. Work 10 single crochets evenly around the thumb opening. DO NOT JOIN! Place your stitch marker at the end of every stitch and move it as you go! (11 sc)

Round 2: Single crochet in the 5 stitches, skip the next stitch, single crochet in the last 5 stitches. (10 sc)

Round 3: Single crochet in each stitch around. Repeat until you have reached your desired length from the base of the thumb to the tip of the thumb.

Remainer Round: *Single crochet in the next stitch, skip the next stitch* Repeat 5 times. (5 sc)

Fasten off, leaving a long end to sew the ends through the stitches of the last round and pull tight to close the top of the thumb.

Note about the thumb: This part might be the hardest to do, but if you are feeling brave, you can always crochet the thumb part and then sew it to the mitten, but if you are just starting out, it might be even trickier than this part. Whatever you are comfortable with!

20191213_205605.jpg

There you have it! A perfect pair of mittens for anyone!

And if you want to add the long string, that is optional, I added it so that you can keep the mittens in the jacket just so you don’t lose them, but you don’t have to add them if you don’t want to.

Make sure you keep an eye out for the hat pattern that I’ll be posting sometime soon, that goes with this pair of gloves.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet C2C Scarf (Easy)

Hey Dearies! I’m officially on break from school and wanted to show you guys what I’ve been working on! As most of you know the Christmas season is here and as most of us crocheters start working on last-minute Christmas presents.

So, for the past year or so I’ve been making hand-made items, such as these, for my family, mainly my nieces and nephews. I’m always on the lookout for new things to try, but at the same time, I have to do what I know I can get done before Christmas.

I actually got the idea from the Grinch C2C crochet scarf that I found on Pinterest and alter the pattern to work out for my nephew.

Here’s what you will need:

  • Medium Yarn (Size 4)
    • I’m using, as always, Red Heart Brand.
    • You don’t have to use just two colors, you can switch it up and use as many or just one color, whatever you like!
  • 5.0 mm hook
  • Sewing needle

If you don’t know how to do the C2C and find it easier to see what it looks like, here is a video from Heart Hook Home that I found very useful. Not to mention, if you like your C2C stitches to look nice and neat, her way works amazing and it’s the same way that I’ll be using for this pattern.

Repeat until you have 9 squares across. Once you do, after making your last square, slip stitch on the top of the square. (This is how you decrease). Chain 2 and make 3 double crochets in that chain 3 space.

Keep repeating until you have 140 squares. (In order to make it longer, add more squares if needed.) Then end it, as you did for the other side and then fasten off.

Tips for changing color:

  • I worked with the same color for 5 squares, and then switched to another color.
  • Try out different colors, have fun with it!

20191213_205336.jpg

There you have it! A simple scarf that is quick and easy to make, especially if you don’t know what to make for anyone!

Mom Talk: Fear Of Losing All Your Adult Teeth

Okay, so this is something that really isn’t talked about, but I figured I would brush on it because it has always been a fear of losing an adult tooth. The real why I’m talking about it is because I’m not the only one who fears of losing their teeth.

When you are little, losing teeth was exciting because we would always get a visit from the tooth fairy that took our teeth and replaced us with money, but when you become an adult, losing an adult tooth can cause more anxiety, fear, and panic, especially if you don’t have any control over it.

losing-teeth

The real reason why I’m bringing this topic up because a few months ago, I was, still am, freaking out over my teeth. One of my top front teeth was loose, just a little bit, but any adult tooth that moves, to me, it’s gonna fall out. I when to the dentist and they told me to take it easy and not bite into anything hard.

To me, my mind was racing everywhere, my anxiety was making me think that I was gonna lose it, I’m gonna have to get an implant or worse, they’ll pull all my teeth out and I’ll have to get dentures. Not to mention, the big key factor, it’s gonna cost money that I don’t have for it.

You are probably laughing about it, but you don’t understand, this is how my anxiety is.

With that being said, I started to do what you shouldn’t do when your anxiety is as bad as mine is. Google.

MyFairfaxDental-PerioStages.jpg

I was searching for everything from bad gum disease to implants to getting dentures. Not to mention, I started watching videos about everyday people who have had dentures since they were young.

It was bad, I couldn’t sleep a few nights because of my research.

Anyway, let’s get back to what happened when I felt that my tooth was moving. I was flossing and sometimes, my gums bleed if I floss too hard, not to mention that I haven’t been to the dentist in almost 2 years because I couldn’t afford it. So, I freaked out.

I tried to have breakfast and couldn’t finish it because I thought I felt my top tooth move, so I called my dentist and they scheduled me to come in right away. So, I went in and they took a look at the tooth and did confirm that I wasn’t nuts and it was moving slightly, keyword slightly.

Not to mention, I’m 22 and I STILL have my wisdom teeth in, they told me I needed to go get those pulled. They don’t bother me, but up until now, they are starting to push my teeth together, not to mention if I’m getting one pulled, you might as well get them all pulled.

With that being said, I’ve been brushing, flossing, and mouth rising like it is a religion because I’m afraid to have dentures.

But why are we so afraid to get dentures? Well, because we think it’s for old people, which you aren’t wrong, but there are young people who have them as well. The youngest person to ever wear dentures is 3 years old.

That’s crazy, but depending on what their genetics are, it can force you to be without your teeth. If you go on Youtube, you’ll find lots of people, young and old people, who had dentures and how they are trying to make it so it isn’t just for ‘older’ folks.

download.jpg

Some of them even have dental implants, which can cost a fortune, just to get them. Hearing their stories and what they struggled with losing their teeth, especially at a young age, makes me inspired. Not to mention, it won’t make me feel alone because there are people at my age that have fake teeth.

It’s something no one should be ashamed about, but instead, embrace it.

Especially since I’ve had 2 children and pregnancy can do a HUGE number onto your teeth. So, if it happens to me, it happens. Seeing those videos and reading about these people that have dentures or fake teeth, relaxes me in a way and it lets you know that you aren’t alone.

Do you have fears that your teeth are going to fall out? Leave a comment down below, I would love to know that I’m not the only one that has a fear about it.

T.V. Show Review: Once Upon A Time (2011-2018)

Hey Dearies! So, since I’ve started to do reviews on books, I wanted to start on T.V. shows as well. One of my favorites was Once Upon A Time, I watched it from the beginning and was immediately drawn into it.

However, to a lot of people, Once Upon A Time was very confusing and difficult to follow along, but after watching the entire series a few times, it was easier to follow along to the storyline.

For those of you who don’t know what the plot is, of course, it has something to do with fairytales and happily ever afters. Basically, Snow White and Prince Charming are getting married when the Evil Queen interrupts and tells them that she is going to cast a curse to get her happily ever after.

api.venuelust
Fun Fact: The actors who played Snow and Charming fell in love during the making of Once Upon A Time. They are married and the writers wrote Snow to be pregnant when the actor who played her was pregnant.

The curse is basically everyone being transferred into this new world that, or the real world, where they have forgotten who their former lives are and are living entirely different lives. However, the only way the curse can be broken is by Emma, Prince Charming and Snow White’s child that was born before the curse hit and was sent into a magical tree to make sure that she was saved in order to break the curse.

Emma-and-Regina-once-upon-a-time-39645545-540-810.jpg
Emma and the Evil Queen.

Long story short, Emma is visited by her son, who she gave up for adoption when he was first born, and try to get Emma to break the curse by getting her to believe that everyone is part of a fairy tale.

If you want to see what the trailer for Once Upon A Time, check out this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rga4rp4j5TY

Now, before I get more into the review, I want to make sure that there might be some spoilers to watch out for!

It’s a lot to get into, but the storyline catches on very quickly, however, they tend to write side characters out or kill them off before they get a good introduction. Not to mention, they go back and forth to the past and present quite a bit, which can confuse you.

For the first few seasons, they did pretty well, but some of the characters I wish had more on-screen time, such as Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jasmine, and Mulan.

download.jpg
Merida and Mulan.

The cast was perfect, especially for the Evil Queen, Rumpelstiltskin, Captain Hook, Snow White, and Prince Charming.

The only thing I didn’t like about the series is the last season. From season 1 to 6, you had the main cast members: Emma, Henry, Snow, Charming, Regina (Evil Queen), Mr. Gold ( Rumpelstiltskin, and Captian Hook.

0d9a7a4adb6285e18a2eaf5813363d83.jpg
Ain’t this pirate dreamy?!

Even though the last season did have Regina, Mr. Gold, and Captain Hook, it also made Henry grow up into an adult. It felt like something was missing, but the other castmates were ready to end the series, but they wanted one more season just so it was ended the right way.

1428989375_robert-carlyle-rumplestiltskin-once-upon-time.jpg
Fun Fact: Have you ever played Castlevania: Lords of Shadow? The actor, Robert Carlyle actually voices Dracula.

It felt quite rushed, but one thing that bugged me is that they basically repeated what happened in season 1, having now Henry’s daughter come up to his room to get him to break the curse. Not to mention, Henry’s love interest was Cinderalla, but hardcore Once Upon A Time fans, we already met Cinderella back in season 1.

rs_1024x759-171005100712-1024-ouat-cinderella.jpg
The Cinderella in the left is from Season 1 and the one of the right is from Season 7.

Although, I did like the fact that Regina finally gets her happy ending and becomes the Queen to all realms, since the writers did put her through hell and back, literally.

Overall, I think it was a really great show, other than a few minor flaws, it turned out quite wonderful. I’ve always loved fairytales and I always love to see how different people interpret them, such as Bella and Rumple being ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

Beauty and the Beast.

If you are interested and want to check it out, Once Upon A Time is still on Netflix, not sure for how much longer, but all seasons are available!

What do you think about Once Upon A Time? Have you watched it, what are your thoughts? Be sure to let me down below in the comments!

Temperature Blanket Update – October 2019

Halloween has come and gone, but I know everyone is interested in what our temperature blanket is starting to look like. Since we are officially in the fall season, the temperature has cooled down quite a bit!

With only two months left of this year, I can’t wait for it to be completely finished! This is one project I can’t wait to see, once it is completed, but as you can see, I might need to fill in the blanks, to complete the blanket, since I didn’t plan this one well.

20191106_133358.jpg

I also wanted to mention that with this year coming to an end, time for another blanket to create for next year, but I will be making another post and giving out some tips for anyone who wanted to create their own temperature blanket themselves!

As well, here is the color list that I’ve been using:

The highest our temperature has gotten is 60-degrees, but as we go into winter, 60-degree weather is something that we will want to have back!

What was the lowest temperature for this month?

The lowest we hit was actually 40-degrees, so make sure you have oil in your tanks or firewood ready to go if you haven’t already started keeping your house warm. I’m sure we will be seeing more of the colder temps pretty soon!

Mom Talk: Treat-or-Tricking – Past v.s. Present

When you are a kid, Halloween and Christmas are the two big holidays that you get jumped up excited for. Christmas, for well, Santa bringing you lots of presents for being good all year long and Halloween, going from door to door getting candy.

ewscripps.brightspotcdn

I’ve noticed a HUGE change from when I used to go trick-or-treating, to how kids go trick-or-treating now.

Past

From when I went trick-or-treating, we used to hit up any house that was giving out candy. We knew what neighborhoods would get all decorated for Halloween and which ones gave us the most candy, as well.

download.jpg

For me, we usually went to the people we knew first, such as my parent’s friends, co-workers, or other family members, before we would go to my grandparent’s house, we always saved them for last.

Once we hit those houses, there were a few neighborhoods that would get altogether and do a GIANT Halloween display, and you never wanted to miss out on it because they did something different every year, or just added more scary stuff to their already huge display of ghosts, zombies, witches, and of course skeleton’s.

As a child, I always loved to see what people have new or how big they made their house looked. That was always my favorite part of going trick-or-treating, other than dressing up and getting lots of candy.

images.jpg

Then we would end our night at seeing our grandparents, which they usually give us bigger bags of candy. By the end of the night, we would get home around 9:30ish, depending on how late we stayed out. If it was raining, we would only hit up close friends and family before heading home.

When it came to candy, my parents made sure that we all shared it after they inspected it, they would throw all of our candy in an empty giant cheese ball container and put it up on top of the fridge. We were only allowed to have a piece or two after we ate all our supper, but as sneaky as us kids were, we always snuck a piece or two when our parents were asleep. But, what kid didn’t?

Every year, we would get so pumped up for that one day a year, just to dress up and got out and get candy, lucky we never got any rocks, like Charlie Brown did.

That was how my past Halloweens were, as a kid, but let’s talk about how the present is.

Present

pi002080_wide.jpg

Things have changed a lot since I became an adult. The hype waiting for that one day a year to dress up doesn’t happen as much for kids, nowadays. There are new ways that kids can dress up and get more candy, but during the day.

Don’t get me wrong, but kids still go trick-or-treating. Not as much as they used to do. That I have noticed that has changed about Halloween.

There are these ‘Truck-or-Treats’, that they hold for children during the day. These were created more for the little ones that may not be awake long enough for Halloween night, which is a great idea, but for the older kids, they don’t get as excited as I did, waiting for Halloween night.

download.jpg

Since a lot has changed, fewer people don’t want to do the ‘Halloween Thing’ because others, who are handing out candy and have never put items in there or added drugs, ruin it for those who love seeing the kids dressed up in costumes and do it for fun.

Now, the ‘Truck-or-Treats’, I personally won’t bring my children to any of those events because it loses the value or excitement that waiting one day a year for the actual Halloween night.

You may not agree with me, but everyone has a different view on what they choose to do. I’m not saying that we should end the ‘Truck-or-Treats’, but instead of having them every week until Halloween, have it the weekend before Halloween, not every week of Halloween.

Another thing, that I would like to address, just because it’s raining on Halloween night, don’t go trick-or-treating, I remember going trick-or-treating in the SNOW, yes, you heard right, there was a year where it SNOWED during Halloween.

download.jpg

Anyway, how was your Halloweens as a kid? Leave a comment down below and let me know!

Happy Halloween and make sure your kiddos are safe this year for trick-or-treating!

Crafty Sassy: Top 10 Free Crochet Halloween Stuffies

Hey Dearies! Since we are in the last week of October and Halloween is just days away, I figured I would share some of these super cute stuffies that you can make for this spooky holiday!

Note: I don’t own any of these patterns, all rights go to their original creators. I will be proving the link to the original patterns. Make sure that if you create any of these, please don’t claim the patterns as your own, these creators work hard to create these patterns!

Now, some of these patterns might be a little hard for beginners, but we love to challenge our skills! These are also perfect gifts to that person who are big fans of the Halloween season.

1. Cute Baby Ghost
https://www.windingroadcrochet.com/pretty-little-ghost-free-crochet-pattern/

2019-10-29 (2).png

This is super cute! I also love the little spider that they added on the side for the ghost! If you are wondering how their cheeks get pink, any lite blush or eyeshadow can create that effect.

2. Little Bat
https://coolcreativity.com/crochet/amigurumi-little-bat-free-crochet-pattern/

This is another adorable pattern, I just love these cute baby bats!

2019-10-29 (4).png

I’m a big vampire fan and the reason why I said this was a ‘classic vampire’, because, well, it is. That and it doesn’t sparkle in the sunlight, that’s for sure. However, putting a little bit of highlight on it could make this little monster shine in the daylight.

7. Candy Corn Cuddler
https://3amgracedesigns.com/candy-corn-kawaii-cuddler/

2019-10-29 (5).png

This is something I would definitely create and put on my couch, however, my two-year-old would most likely take it whenever I wanted to cuddle with it. I can’t blame her either, that cuddler is too cute!

8. Zombie Bear

zombie1_small.png

This bear is cute and spooky, just look at him. Now, this stuffy is one of those fun one that you can use your scrap yarn for. If you are a big Halloween fan, this might be something that you want to make for your spooky collection.

9. Oogie Boogie
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/oogie-boogie

2019-10-29 (6).png

If you already know who this guy is, then you must either have seen The Nightmare Before Christmas or are a HUGE fan of the movie. I couldn’t forget this guy, that’s for sure, but the best part, he’s a free pattern. And if you check out the creator, you’ll also find that they have created Zero and Jack, as well.

10. Hocus Pocus Witches

2019-10-29 (7).png

Well, I had to save the best for last! Hocus Pocus is one of those movies that you have to see every year for Halloween and when I saw this on Pinterest, I was so excited! More excited that the pattern was free!

Crafty Sassy: Top 10 Free Crochet Costumes for Newborns

Hey Dearies! So, I wanted to make this post last year, but I changed my mind. Even tho my daughter will be turning two at the end of this month, I wanted to share some links to some super amazing patterns for newborns!

I didn’t get into crocheting until after my daughter was born and really missed out on making her one of these costumes to do a photoshoot for her. However, just because I missed out, I still want to keep in mind, just in case I ever get asked to make them in the future.

When it comes to looking for free patterns, for this type of project, it is a little bit of slim picking, but if you don’t mind paying for the pattern itself, you can find more Disney characters. (Which I will be making a post with links to those very soon!)

Even if you don’t know how to make them, always see if your friendly crocheters wouldn’t mind creating them for you. I love to getting sent a project to do, such as this, it gives me a challenge and something new to try out!

Disclaimer: None of the patterns shown are mine, all rights go out to their creators. I have left links to where the free patterns come from. Make sure that if you chose to make these, or have them made, that you give credit where credit is due to the original creator.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Halloween Placemat (Easy)

Hey Dearies! Sorry, this is a day late, but with my college midterms coming up, it’s been pretty busy, but without further ado, here is the pattern for this super cute placemat!

20191009_130841.jpg

If you want to create the placemat with the coaster, here is the link for the coaster that I posted last week: https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/10/01/crafty-sassy-crochet-halloween-coaster-easy/

Note: It has been brought to my attention that I need to clarify the yarn, especially with placemat, potholders, or oven mitts. This pattern, with the yarn chosen, is for DECORATION and shouldn’t have anything hot on top of it.

Acritic yarn MELTS! If you want to use this as an everyday placemat, make sure you use cotton! It doesn’t have to be the same brand that I use, as long as it is the same size.

Let’s talk about what you will need:

  • 5.5mm hook
  • Medium Yarn (In black and orange)
    • I am using Red Heart Super Saver in Pumpkin and I Love This Yarn in Black.
    • Please make sure you see my note if you are making this placemat for everyday use!
  • Sewing needle

Placemat

With orange or black yarn, chain 23.

Round 1: Double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook. Double crochet in each of the next 18 chains. Make 5 double crochets in the last chain. Working on the opposite side in the unused loops of the beginning chain, double crochet in each of the next 19 loops. Make 6 double crochets in the next chain. Join in at the beginning of the chain 3. (50 dc)

Round 2: Chain 3. Double crochet in each of the next 19 double crochets. Make 2 double crochets in each of the next 5 double crochet. Double crochet in each of the next 20 double crochet. Make 2 double crochets in each of the next 5 double crochets. Join in at the beginning of the chain 3. (60 dc)

Round 3: Chain 3. Double crochet in each of the next 19 double crochet. Make 2 double crochets in the next 10 double crochets. Double crochet in each of next 20 double crochets. Make 2 double crochets in the next 10 double crochets. Join in at the beginning of the chain 3. (80 dc)

Round 4: Chain 3. Double crochet in each of the next 22 double crochets. Make 2 double crochets in each of the next 14 double crochets. Double crochet in each of the next 26 double crochets. Make 2 double crochets in each of the next 14 double crochets. Double crochet in each of the next 3 stitches. Join in at the beginning of the chain 3.  (108 dc)

Round 5: Chain 3. Double crochet in each double crochet. Join in at the beginning of the chain 3.

Round 6-8: Repeat round 5.

Round 9: Chain 3. Double crochet in the next 23 double crochets. Make 2 double crochets in the next 26 double crochets. Double crochet in each of the next 28 double crochets. Make 2 double crochets in the next 26 double crochets. Double crochet in each of the next 4 double crochets. Join in at the beginning of the chain 3. (160 dc)

You can fasten off, but if you want a nice border, switch to your other color.

Border

Round 1: Chain 1. Single crochet in the same chain as joining. Working in the back loops, single crochet in each remaining double crochet around. Join with the first single crochet.

Round 2: *Skip the next single crochet, make 5 double crochets in the next stitch, skip the next single crochet, slip stitch into the next stitch.* Repeat around. Slip stitch into the first stitch. Fasten off.

There you have it! A perfect placemat for Halloween! The best part about this is that you can mix and match different colors for whatever theme you have in your kitchen! I actually make one with white and a lite purple border for my Mother’s Day giveaway!

Also, don’t forget to like my Facebook page, I update it on a daily and it let’s you know when another blog post or free giveaway is!

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Halloween Coaster (Easy)

Hey Dearies! I know it has been quite a while since I’ve posted for Crafty Sassy, but because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, not to mention my birthday is in October, I had to share this super cute pattern with you all!

So, this is part of a set, but the placemat will come out next week. This pattern set was part of my Mother’s Day giveaway, while I used a light purple and white. However, this is Halloween, so the colors will be black and orange.

Here is the link for the matching placemat that goes with this coaster: https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/10/09/crafty-sassy-crochet-halloween-placemat-easy/

20191001_160907.jpg

As much as I love working with black, it’s very difficult to see the stitches, but here are a few tips to help you out.

Tips for working with black yarn:

  1. If you are lucky enough to be a crochet hook collector, you might have heard of the ones that light up, and yes they do work great, especially when you are working with darker colored yarn.
  2. If you don’t have those light-up hooks hanging around, a lamp or overhead lights will be your best friend. I always use an overhead light for my life and when working with darker colors.
  3. If you don’t have any of the 2 above, sunlight or daylight works well!

Let’s talk about what you will need:

  • Medium Size Yarn
    • I’ll be using Pumpkin, in Red Heart Super Saver, and Black, in I Love This Yarn.
  • 5.5mm hook
  • Sewing needle

Take the color you would like to use for the middle. I’ll be using black as my middle.

Chain 6.

Round 1: Chain 3 (counts as double crochet on thisd rounds and the others). 9 Double crochets in the ring. Join at the top of your chain 3. (10 dc)

Round 2: Chain 3. Double crochet in the same chain as joining. 2 Double crochets in each stitch. Join at the top of your chain 3. (20 dc)

Round 3: Chain 3. Double crochet in the same stitch as joining. 2 Double crochets in each stitch. Join at the top of your chain 3. (40 dc)

You can stop here if you want, but if you want to make it bigger, do Round 4. If you want to stop here, skip to the border step.

Round 4: Chain 3. Double crochet in the same stitch as joining. *Double crochet in the next stitch, make 2 double crochets in the next stitch.* Join at the top of chain 3.

Border

Grab the second color and chain 1 with it.

Round 1:  Single crochet in that same stitch you joined in the last round and all around. Slip stitch into the first single crochet.

Round 2: Chain 1. Skip the next stitch. *Make 5 double crochets in the next stitch. Skip the next stitch. Slip stitch in the next stitch.* Repeat until you reach the end and slip stitch.

Fasten off and sew in any loose ends.

There you have it! Make sure to check in next Tuesday for the placemat that goes with this coaster.

Also, don’t forget to like my Facebook page, I update it on a daily and it let’s you know when another blog post or free giveaway is!

Temperature Blanket Update – September 2019

Fall is officially here! One of my favorite seasons! So, right now in Maine, we are going through what we like to call ‘second summer’, which is when we get a few days that the sun is out and it’s hot. Then it goes back to be cold, again.

With September finally coming to the end, I will say we were lucky enough to get some nice last days of summer, but the leaves are changing colors, which makes car rides so much fun to enjoy because of the beautiful scenery.

As you can see, the blanket is starting to fill itself back up, but I think a few of you might be wondering if I’ll have enough to fill the other side. I might not, but I will be crocheting white squares to fill in what is needed.

Here it is!

20191001_142910.jpg

The photo may not do justice, but it is super big! I had to move furniture around just to get a full photo of the blanket.

As always, here is my color list:

We got one last day in the ’80s, but I’m pretty sure we won’t see another on until next year. On that day, I ended up going to Popham Beach and was it a perfect day to walk along the beach and collect shells!

The water was too cold to swim in but wasn’t too back to walk in.

What was the lowest temperature for this month?

60’s have been our lowest, so far, I expect us to start seeing more days get colder as we go into October, which makes me sad because I do love the warmer weather.

Do you post daily updates?

Yes, I do. On my Facebook page, I post a picture of the square for each day. I also tried to post every week’s worth, but it was hard to keep track of, so I’ll be posting monthly and daily instead.

Unforgotten – Chapter 30

If you haven’t read Chapter 29, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/09/02/unforgotten-chapter-29/

Athena’s P.O.V.
Dean held my hand as we watched our father come back into to hall. It had been a few days since he left. Both Logan and I were worried thinking something had happened to him. As soon as he walked in, I let go of Dean’s hand and ran to hug my father.

“I’m fine, you don’t have to worry.” Our father said as Logan looked up at him.

“We won’t ever stop worrying, dad,” Logan said as he came over and our father hugged us both. I watched as Logan pulled away and glared at my father. I knew he was going to start questioning our father. “Did you know what your sister did?”

I watched as I let go of my father and looked into his eyes. I turned to look and saw our Aunt Marie coming closer to us with James at her side. “The only thing I knew was that she bailed Lucas out. Your mother, her and I came out with a plan to get him back in jail.”

Our Aunt Marie came to hug our father. “He didn’t know anything about my plan. He found out when you did.” She turned to us, as I looked over at my brother, he still wasn’t happy at all. “Logan, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t thinking straight back then because I never found someone to love.”

“But yet you did. Not to mention that this rapist is now after my sister because she looks like our mother. Everything you have done has made our lives even more in danger!”

Logan yelled as tears started to fall down our Aunt’s face.

I father stepped in and James quickly came to our Aunt’s side. “I know what she did is unforgivable, but you need to understand that what’s in the past, is in the past. Sometimes we do stuff without even thinking about it.”

Logan crossed his arms and rolled his eyes before Logan could say anything, I interrupted him. “Logan, please, let’s not make this worst than it needs to be. He’s only after one thing. Me.” I spoke as Dean held my hand once more. “Now, let’s just relax and we will figure out a plan.”

I started to walk back to my hall, as I left go of Dean’s hand.
“Athena?” Dean spoke as I ignored him as my mind kept spinning. I wanted to be alone, but at the same time, Dean won’t let me be alone.

“You are gonna have to talk to me. I’m not leaving any time soon.” Dean said again as I walked into my cottage and slammed the door shut. I sat in my chair, as I watched the door fling open. “You aren’t gonna shut me out, Athena.

Dean stood in front of me as I just stared away from him. He leaned in, pulling his face right in front of mine. “I’m not going anywhere unless you tell me to.” He spoke and then leaned in to kiss my cheek. He started to place kisses all over my face, I could help by smile.

“You make it so hard to be alone.” I spoke, as he smirked.

“Well, you aren’t alone. I’m always gonna be here for you and whether you like it or not, you are gonna tell me what’s going on.”

“It’s just hard for me to understand why this guy would want me.” I said. “I read my mother’s journal’s and she talked about what he did to her and her sister.”

“Your mom had a sister?” Dean asked. He looked as confused as I did.

“I guess so, but she died in a car crash. Lucas was her boyfriend at the time. He took advantage of her on the night her sister was killed. It didn’t make sense of why she was so overprotective of us.” I paused. “I’m just afraid that the same thing that happened to my mother will happen to me.”

Dean grabbed me and pulled me into his chest. “Don’t think like that. Nothing will happen to you, I promise.”

“Quick! Something is going on with Logan!” We heard Roxi yell as she slammed the door open. Dean looked at me as I rushed out the door, running after Roxi, as we saw him laying on the ground.

His body was stiff as a board and his eyes were open, but they were completely white. There was a weird glow around him. I got on my knees next to him and grabbed his hand.

“No, Athena don’t!” I heard my Aunt Marie said as I felt a complete shock throughout my body. Everything went completely back.
_________________________________________________________________________________________
Dean’s P.O.V.
“What the hell is this!” I said as I was about to touch Athena’s hand. Marie pulled my wrist away.

“Don’t touch them! They are in a vision and if you all are under, it can slowly kill you!” Marie explained as Elle came rushing with some time of pot. “We have to hurry and put this oil over our hands, it will make sure that we don’t get trapped in their vision.”
Roxi and I dipped our hands into the oil as we were told. I was more worried what would we need to do next.

“What’s next?” I asked as Marie, James, and Elle did the same.

“At the same time, we need to all touch their hearts.” We all got in position, I looked up at Marie and waited. “One, two, three!” We all placed our hands on their chest and it all stopped.

Their eyes shut, the glow around them was gone, I placed my head near Athena’s heart as I listened to her beating heart, I felt relief as I could hear it beating. I was afraid that I had lost her. I kissed her forehead, thinking she would wake up, but nothing.

“Why aren’t they waking up?” Roxi asked as she kissed Logan on the lips.

“They need time to recover, we put them in a deep sleep. Let them rest and we will have to wait and see.” Marie said as I picked up Athena and walked her back to her cottage, placing her softly on her bed.

I sat in the chair that I pulled next to the bed and held her hand. “I’m not going anywhere, Athena.” As I kissed her hand.

Temperature Blanket Update 2019 – August

August has finally ended and fall is closer than we know it! Temperatures have stayed the same for the most part, but now are starting to get a little cooler as we watch the leaves change colors we watch the end of summer slowly turn into fall.

I did use a different yarn for the last few 80 degree days, but I have a feeling we won’t have any more of those days in the future. I can’t wait to slowly watch our colors go back into the blues and purples.

20190903_125500.jpg

I also wanted to note that I will be putting an update on how I would redo or change anything from this year’s temperature blanket because as you can see, this is pretty huge for a blanket, let alone, it’s bigger than my bed, even sleep on a queen!

Anyway, here are the colors that I used, just in case you forgot what each of them meant.

So, the highest has been 90, we never reach a 100-degree day, which I was hoping to at least happen once. I do go for the overall highest temp, but its never been 100, but has gotten very close to it!

What was the lowest temperature for this month?

The lowest, we actually hit a 60-degree day. We have had a lot of 70 or 80 degree days but finally hit a 60-degree day this last week. I believe we will start to see more of those to come in the upcoming weeks!

Unforgotten – Chapter 29

If you haven’t read Chapter 28, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/08/26/unforgotten-chapter-28/

Athena’s P.O.V.
“We need you both, something has come up.” My brother walked in as Dean and I cuddling in his bed. “I’m sorry, but it’s important.”

I got up from the bed and grabbed my shoes. I started to worry as I looked at Logan. “Please tell me dad is okay.”

He nodded as he looked back at me. “He’s fine, just hurry up, Aunt Marie and James are waiting for us.” I nodded as Logan left the room. I looked over at Dean, who pulled me into a hug.

“Don’t worry, it’s nothing we can’t handle, I’m sure.” Dean said as he planted a kiss on my forehead.
_________________________________________________________________
“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t thinking straight when I bailed him out.” My Aunt Marie said as she looked at Logan and I. I didn’t understand why she would do such as thing, but when I looked over at Logan, he was furious.

“Sorry? As if we haven’t been through enough!” Logan shouted as he got up from the meeting table, pacing back and forth. “Why can things just be normal for once for us?!”

Logan stormed out, I was about to get up and follow him, but Roxi touched my hand. “I got him.” As she rushed out to follow Logan.

I looked back over at my Aunt Marie, she had such a worried look on her face. “Why did you really do it?” I asked as she sat back down.

“I didn’t want your mother to be with your mother. He was all I had since our parents walked out of our lives when we were young. I didn’t want to be alone and I wasn’t thinking straight.” She paused and grabbed my hand. “I never knew Lucas wanted to take your guys, I locked him up and he ended up escaping.”

I looked back at Dean as James came over and showed us the pictures that Lucas did to our rooms. As I was looking at my room, the words that were spray-painted over gave me a pit in my stomach. “Who does he want? Logan and I?”

Looking up from the pictures, my Aunt Marie started crying. “He told me something when he was in jail, it didn’t make sense until now, but he told me he only wanted the one that can give me her.” I froze. “He wants you more than anything, you look just like your mother and he will do anything to get you.”

Dean held my hand as I just froze. I felt like I couldn’t move. What my Aunt said, made me scared for my life. I just didn’t know what I was gonna do. My thoughts kept rushing through my head. How can we stop him? How can we keep everyone safe? What does he have planned for me?

“Athena, I will make sure that nothing happens to you or your brother,” James spoke as he looked into my eyes. “I watched what happened to your mother when he was around, I’m not going to let the same thing happen to you.”

I looked over at Dean, as he had gotten up and left the room. James grabbed my wrist to face him. “This is a lot of information for him. Give him some time to dissolve it.” I nodded as I walked away and headed towards my brother’s hall.
_________________________________________________________________
“This is all of her fault!” I heard Logan scream. “She made this choice and everything she has done has put Athena and I in more danger than we need to be!” I kept walking to see my brother on his deck pacing back and forth.

Roxi was with him, keeping her distance, “Logan! Sometimes people don’t think when they’re in pain! Your Aunt did the best she could and I know that it’s not something you want to hear, but you should hear her out.” Roxi said as I got closer.

“He’s coming back for us because we look like our mother! He wants to have a perfect family with us because we are her children!” Logan said as he turned around and looked at me.

“He’s not coming for you, Logan.” I said, walking onto the deck and facing him. “It’s me he really wants.” I said as he shook his head no.

I felt my eyes water, as he threw his hands into his hair. “No, no! Athena, we aren’t going to let him take you. I’ve already lost too many people and I’m not going to lose my sister.” Logan pulled me into a hug.

He knew exactly what Lucas wanted to do with me. My stomach turned just thinking about it. I would be his next slave.

Unforgotten – Chapter 28

If you haven’t read Chapter 27, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/08/12/unforgotten-chapter-27/

Athena’s P.O.V.
Waking up this morning was like a breath of fresh air. I rolled over on my side to find Dean, half-naked in my bed. I smiled as I watched him sleep. I snuggled close to him, our warm bodies pressed against each other.

For the first time since Logan and I found out we were powerful witches, I felt relaxed. Nothing was going wrong, for once. I was happy. Something that I hadn’t been in a very long time. Not to mention, my brother was happy, too.

Although our mother was murdered by Ricky, things have been difficult, but our dad is dropping everything and staying with us since he is and our Aunt Marie, our only family we have left.
“Morning beautiful,” Dean spoke as his eyes were still shut. I gave him a kiss on his lips and when I pulled away, he opened his eyes. “I want more of your kisses.”

Dean grabbed my waist and pulled me back to him, as he started placing kisses up my shoulders and neck. “We should get up.” I laughed as he kept kissing me, as I was trying to talk. I faced him and smiled.

“Did you sleep well?” He asked as I nodded, laying on his chest. “How about we just stay and cuddle all day? I’ll get up and make breakfast in bed for you.” He looked down at me and smiled.

“As long as I don’t have to cook,” I said as he placed a kiss on my forehead and got up from his bed, I watched as he threw on some sweatpants and left the room. I grabbed his button-up shirt and threw it over my head as I laid back down in his bed, soaking up his scent.
____________________________________________________________________
Dean came in with a whole tray of food and laid it on the bed. He jumped right in and placed a kiss on my lips. “Hungry?” He asked as I went and took a piece of bacon off of the tray and placed it in my mouth. “I take that as a yes.”

Once we finished eating, we both laid back on his bed. “I’m stuffed.” I said as snuggled next to him. “Thank you for feeding me.”

Dean laughed as he looked into my eyes. “Your welcome.” We ended up passing out in each other’s arms.
____________________________________________________________________________________________Marie’s P.O.V.
“The house was completely trashed? That doesn’t make sense.” I said, holding the phone against my ear as I talked to my brother.

“I’m just gonna grab what I need, but whoever did this only wanted to destroy the kids’ rooms,” Tanner said as I sat down. I knew exactly who it was. “I’ll text you pictures of what this mess looks like.”

“Alright, but please be safe.” I reminded him. “Text me when you are on your way.”

“Okay, I will do that. I’ll see you soon.” As I hung up the phone and place it on the table, grabbing my glass of water and taking a sip.

James walked, carrying a jar of pickles. “Here you are.” James handed me the jar as I smiled. As much as I just craved them 5 minutes ago, I didn’t feel like eating. “What’s wrong? I thought you were dying for pickles.”

“I was.”

“Okay, what’s changed your mind about the pickles?” James chuckled. I looked up at him and frowned. “Are we in danger again?”

“Yes, but this isn’t about us. It’s about the twins and I did something a long time ago that I was only thinking about myself.” I said as a tear fell from my cheek. “I didn’t mean to do it, James. I was pressed for time and the only way to get her away from my brother.”

James looked concerned. I had never told him this or anyone for that matter. He got down next to me and held my hand out. “Whatever you did, you had a reason to, at the time. It happens. Look at me, I chose to be a drug addict and an almost lost everything, but you saved me.”

“James, this is different,” I said as I stood up and paced back and forth. I finally turned and looked at him. “Remember Jade for a second.”

“Okay, what does this have to do with what we were talking about?”

“Just do it! Please!” I snapped as he nodded. “Think about her past.”

“Okay,”

“Remember that boyfriend her sister had,” I said, as I watched him still looked confused. “He did something to Jade.”

“Lucas?” He said as he looked at me. “Marie, you didn’t.” He finally knew what I was talking about.

Lucas was Jade’s sisters’ boyfriend who raped her, on the same night, he had killed her sister in a car crash. I bailed him out of jail and his plan was to take Jade and the twins. I don’t know why I was so stupid to let him out of jail.

He ended up getting back in jail but ended up getting out last month. I understand why Jade wanted to get the kids and leave. She didn’t want him to find them.

“I wasn’t thinking, but it makes sense of why Jade wanted to take the twins from here and go. He’s looking for them, James. Tanner called me when he and Lewy got to his house.” My phone beeped as I looked down and it was two pictures.

Logan’s room was trashed and on the wall was spray-painted saying, ‘Luke Jr, my son.’. In the second picture, Jade’s room was trashed as well, but this time he wrote, ‘Jade, my princess. I will FIND you!’ As I showed the pictures to James, he threw his hands in his hair.

“I swear, these kids can’t catch and fucking break! They went from normal teenagers to witches to losing their mother and now, we have to deal with him!” James looked at me.

“Should we call a meeting? They should know what’s going on.”
I nodded as I took another sip of my water. “Let me tell them what I did. They should hear this part from me.”

James came over and pulled me into his arms. “Don’t you worry, I’m not gonna let anything happen to them or you.”

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Travel Bag (Easy)

Hey Dearies! Back with another super cute pattern! This is a market back that I had a blast making! Plus it was super simple to make as well. I ended up making this for my nieces 5th birthday and she loved it!

I would say that this bag a normal size for a bag, it’s not huge, but it’s big enough to fit what you would normally put in your purse. Well, for me, but you can use it for anything!

This pattern is going to be split into 3 parts. The base, handle, and gussett (which is a long part than connects both of the bases, I will explain more as we get there to hopefully make a little more sense).

Let’s begin talking about what you will need for this project:

  • Medium Yarn
    • Make sure you have 2 skiens of the colors you want to use. You will be working with 2 strains of yarn with this project.
    • I used Red Heart in white and orchard. You don’t have to change colors unless you want to, but I did just to see how it would look like.
    • 5.0 mm hook
    • Sewing needle
    • Stitch markers

Base and Handle (Make 2 of these)

Grab 2 strains of yarn, of your choice, chain 37.

Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from your hook and in each chain across. Turn. (36)

Row 2: Chain 1. single crochet across. (36)

Rows 3-12: Repeat row 2. Once row 12 is done, you can change into another 2 strains of color. I dropped the white by cutting it and crocheting over it. I just grabbed the other end of the yarn I was working on to replace my white.

Note: You don’t have to switch colors, but I did.

Row 13: Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), skip the first stitch, double crochet in the next stitch and in each st across. Turn. (36)

Rows 14-19: Repeat row 13. Once at row 13, go back to using the 2 main colors that you were working with before. (You don’t have to do this unless you want to!)

Rows 20-27: Repeat row 2. Turn.

Now, we are going to be working on the handle part, we are NOT fasting off, not yet, but I just wanted to make sure before you start to fasten off.

Row 28: Chain 1, single crochet in the next 6 stitches. Chain 50. Single crochet the last 6 stitches.

Row 29: Chain 1. Single crochet in the 6 stitches. Work a single crochet in each of the chains. Single crochet in the last 6 stitches. Fasten off and sew in any loose ends.

Once you have made two of the bases with handles, lets start on the gussett, or the part we are going to use to connect it all together!

Gussett (Make only 1 of these)

Working with 2 strains, again.

Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook. Single crochet across. Turn. (5)

Row 2: Chain 1. Single crochet across. Turn.

Repeat row 2 until it measures out to be about 30in. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends. Fold the gussett, from front to back, at the folded part, place a stitch marker on the row that is in the middle fold.

Assembly:

There are two ways to do this:

  1. Single crochet around the long sides of the gussett and single crochet around the 3 sides of the bases. Sewing them together.
  2. Single crocheting all the pieces together, using 2 strands.

Whichever way you want to do it, is fine. I found that the first one made it a little bit easier for me to connect them, but I also wanted that nice thick border it has.

When you connect them, the short side of the gussett is the closest to the handles.

If you are single crocheting around, to connect them, make sure that when you get to the corner, you single crochet 3 times.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Basic Squared Coasters (Beginner)

Hey Dearies! Back at it again with another super easy pattern for you! This even goes with the can cozies we made last week, but I will be adjusting the size so that it will fit all sizes!

If you want to make a can cozy to go with this, here is the link: https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/08/06/crafty-sassy-crochet-can-cozies-beginner/

So, when it comes to coaster patterns, a lot of them don’t make them as big as they need to be for normal or bigger size mugs/cups. Sometimes the pattern’s picture is zoomed in, so you really can’t tell if they are that big unless you make them yourself.

20190813_083031.jpg

Let’s talk about what you will need:

  • Medium Size Yarn
    • I’ll be using Red Heart Super Saver in White and the border in the same blue mix as the can cozy.
  • 5.0 mm hook
  • Sewing needle

Let’s begin.

Chain 18

Row 1: Single crochet into the 2nd chain from your hook and in each remaining chains. Chain 1 and turn your work.

Row 2: Single crochet across. Chain 1 and turn. Repeat until your desired length.

20190813_080927.jpg

Note: I kept crocheting until the height of my coaster was about 4in. You also have to keep in mind that we are also adding a border as well!

Once at your desired length, fasten off and weave in your ends.

Boarder

Grab another color, or you can use the same color to make the base. I’ll be using the same blue mix colored yarn for the border.

Insert your hook on any side of your coaster. Chain 1 and single crochet across. When you reach a corner, make sure to make 3 single crochets in that same corner.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends!

There you have it! A perfect and simple coaster to make for your guest or just yourself. If you still want to make the can cozy that goes with this pattern, make sure to check out the link at the top of the page.

Unforgotten – Chapter 27

If you haven’t read Chapter 26, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/08/05/unforgotten-chapter-26/

Athena’s P.O.V.
My mind felt completely clear as we started to head over to the field. My Aunt Marie stayed inside, keeping the protection spell going. I held Dean’s hand, walking side-by-side with everyone. I looked over at my brother as he nodded.

The closer we got, we saw more. Hybrids as far as we could see. We didn’t know how many there was, but there were two males that we more in front of the pack. We completely stopped as we heard one of the men talking.

“Why don’t we see if we can work this out?” He said as he and the other man headed closer to us. The one next to us looked familiar to me, but I couldn’t remember where I had known him from. Logan stepped in front of us all.

“You know very well what will happen. Hybrids shouldn’t exist. It’s an unbalance in nature.” Logan spoke as he looked over at Lewy and Colin.

“Your kind isn’t welcome.” Lewy spoke as he looked over at Colin, the both nodded.

“Ah, back then we weren’t, but maybe there is a change of heart. I want to discuss this with Athena.” The man spoke again. Dean stood in front of me.

I looked over at them both, they looked like normal humans, but so didn’t the vampires and werewolf’s. “Speak then.” I said as I stood next to my brother. “Whatever you have to say, say it. I’d like to know who killed my mother.”

“But of course,” He paused, placing his hand on the other man’s shoulder. “Your Ricky did the honors, love.”

My heart dropped as I looked at Ricky. Anger filled my heart as I looked into his eyes. He looked heartbroken. I looked at our brother who looked like he was going to jump and kill him. Before we could stay anything else, Lewy and Colin popped into our minds.

‘Do what you’ve been practicing, once they are set on you guys, we will jump in. Make sure it’s up before we start.’

We all looked at each other and nodded. We gather hands, and starting chanting. I once we started, I could feel the power rushing in out of my body as the power grew stronger.

With James with us, we were stronger than ever.

I peak my eyes over to see the hybrids running at us with full force, but once they even tried to touch us, the were turned to dust. Lewy and Colin lead the others, killing the ones that were trying to flee. I closed my eyes and kept focusing on the spell.

After an hour or so, we ended the spell and looked around. Everything around us had turned into dust, expect the two men. Lewy and Colin brought them over as they both laid on their knees. Ricky kept staring at me, as I gave him a hateful look.

“You know how much trouble you have tried to cause?” Logan spoke at the other man, but still kept glancing at Ricky. I wonder if Ricky was someone we knew.

“I don’t know, just kill me now.” The other man spoke, and so Logan did. He instantly turned to dust.

I looked over at Ricky as his eyes changed from a black to their normal color. “Athena? Is that you?” He asked. I looked confused as I looked over at Logan.

“Do you know him, Logan?” I asked as Logan looked over at Lewy. “What’s going on?”

“Well, Athena, you had me erase him from your memories. If I didn’t, we would’ve lost the war.” Lewy explained as I looked over at Ricky. Still, nothing rang a bell.

“Why would you do that?” Ricky said as he looked at me, heartbroken. “The Athena I knew would never do that. I thought you loved me?”

“Ricky, she only did what was best. After all, you killed our mother, would you want her to remember her first love that murdered our mother?” Logan said as it still burned my mind that this Ricky would do so.

“I-I killed her?” Ricky said, he looked rather surprise. He looked at me. “I’m so sorry, Athena. Please, just kill me.”

I grabbed the sword that killed mother and plunged it into his heart, he instantly turned to dust. I dropped the sword and headed back inside, with Dean running behind me.

“Are you alright?” He asked as I grabbed him and pulled him in for a kiss. I felt his hands around my waist as we kept kissing. He pulled away and leaned his forehead against mine. “What do you want to do to celebrate?” He asked.

“I think I’ve got a few ideas in mind.” I smiled as I grabbed his hand as we headed inside.
__________________________________________________________________________
Marie’s P.O.V.
“Ricky killed her?” As a repeated what Tanner just told me.

“So, what happens now?” Tanner asked as James came over, bringing me a glass of water.

“Well, we can’t leave this place until we have replacements, but even then, it’s dangerous since we are one of the most rare types of witches.” I explained as I took a sip of the water. “Lewy and Colin will go back to where they need to go. As for you, I think it would be best for you to pack up any of your stuff and come back to stay with us, if not move closer to us.”

“As long as it’s okay for me to stay here, I will. I rather be with my kids than away from them.” He said.

“Of course it is, there are plenty of rooms in the halls if you wanted to stay with your kids.” Elle came in and added. “After everything that you have been, I think it would be best that you stay by their side.”

Tanner nodded and started to turn away. “Don’t go alone, Tanner. Taken Lewy or Colin with you. I don’t want anything to happened to you.” I said, giving him a hug before he left.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Can Cozies (Beginner)

Hey Dearies! So, today I have another super easy pattern for you all! Since we are still in the hot weather in Maine, I figured we would make some can cozies for our soda cans! This also goes with a set, so next week, I’ll show you all how to make the coasters that go with them!

If you are just starting out, this is going to be perfect for you! Especially if you don’t want to just make a dishcloth, which is what most crocheters recommend to start out.

Let’s talk about what you will need:

  • Medium Yarn
    • I’m going to be using a multi-colored yarn from Red Heart. I forgot what it was called since I lost the label for it.
  • 5.0 mm hook
  • Sewing needle
  • Stitch Marker

Let’s Begin!

Round 1: Chain 2. Make 7 single crochets in the 2nd chain from your hook. Do NOT join, we will be working into a spiral. (7sc)

Round 2: 2 single crochet in the next 6 single crochets, single crochet in the last single crochet. (13 sc)

Round 3: *Single crochet in the next single crochet, 2 single crochet in the next single crochet* Repeat 6 times. Single crochet in the last single crochet. (19 sc)

Round 4: *Single crochet in the next 2 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet* Repeat 6 times. Single crochet in the last single crochet. (25 sc)

Round 5: *Single crochet in the next 3 single crochets, 2 single crochet in the next single crochet* Repeat 6 times. 2 single crochets in the last single crochet. (32 sc)

Round 6: Working in the back loops only. Single crochet in each single crochet around.

Round 7: Single crochet around. Repeat until your project reaches your desired length. I’ll be crocheting until I reach about 3.5 inches tall.

Last Round: Slip stitch in each single crochet around. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Unforgotten – Chapter 26

If you haven’t read Chapter 25, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/07/29/unforgotten-chapter-25/

Logan’s P.O.V.
We heard a terrible scream, immediately, Athena and I ran to the entrance and saw our father, holding our mother in a pool of blood. He was sobbing and rocking her lifeless both back and forth. I dropped to my knees, I could feel the tears pouring out from my eyes.

Athena rushed over to my mother and my father looked into her eyes and over at mine. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t see it happen.” He spoke as Athena tried to move our father’s grip from holding our mother.

“I can save her, let us save her daddy!” Athena screamed. I felt someone’s arms wrapped around my neck as I cried more.

“Athena, it’s too late,” Lewy said as she stopped what she was doing and Dean pulled her into his arms. I watched as her head buried into his chest, I could hear her crying.

I pulled Roxi into my arms and held her tightly. She pulled away to look into my eyes and very softly touched my cheek. “What can I do for you?” She whispered as I just held her, crying.

Even though my mother was a pain in the ass, she never should’ve died this way.

Something enraged me that someone would be such a coward to kill our mother and leave. Something in me clicked and I let go of Roxi and started walking towards the field.

“Easy, don’t go out there until we have a plan.” Colin stopped me as I kept on going.

“Logan, dear. You need to come back!” I heard Elle say, which stopped me dead in my tracks. I turned to look at her. “Please.” I slowly looked back at the field, waiting for anyone to come out of the shadows and face me.
__________________________________________________________________________
Marie’s P.O.V.
“Oh my god, what happened to her?!” I said as I saw my brother bringing his lifeless wife and laying her on the floor. I got on my knees and looked at her, I tried to use my magic to help her, but it was too late. “What killed her?”

I asked my brother, but he stayed on his knees, silent. He just stood there looking at Jade’s face. Lewy and Colin came over. “With this.” Colin said as he handled me the sword. This wasn’t just any normal sword. This one was laced with deathly poison that can’t be undone with magic.

I handed the sword to Elle. “Make sure no one touches that. It’s laced.” James, came to my side as he got done on his knees, sobbing over his dead best friend.

I held him in my arms as he looked at me. “What do we need to do?” He asked, as I looked up to Elle, Lewy, and Colin. We all knew what this means, the war has started.

I stood up and looked over at my niece and nephew. I could feel it in their souls that they were heartbroken and wanted revenge. “The war has been started. Dean, Roxi, Athena, and Logan, we need to cast the protection spell, as I will be in here. James will go out to the battlefield with you all, I’ll keep the protection spell up.”

“You aren’t staying her alone,” James said as I nodded.

“Don’t worry, we are leaving her with a few of our kinds, not to mention she will have Elle with her,” Lewy spoke, as James nodded.

“Lewy and Colin will be outside with you all. Make sure your kinds know that it is happening now and get them ready.” I said I looked over at my niece and nephew. “I know that you want to mourn the loss of your mother, but we need to make sure that this kind doesn’t make anyone else lose their mothers. Take that rage and use it for the battlefield.” They both nodded as they headed to their halls to change.

I got down next to my brother. “I’m so sorry that this has happened to you, but your children will make sure that whoever did this, will be stopped.” He didn’t say anything, just wrapped his arms around me. “I love you.”

“I love you, too, but I’m going out there with them,” Tanner said as he stood up and walked over to Lewy. “Change me.” Lewy looked over at me.

“Are you sure you want me to do this? Once you are changed, you’ll be at your strongest, however, if they get ahold of you, they can turn you into one of them. You’ll lose not just your family, but everything.”

I grabbed my brother’s arm. “Think of your kids, Tanner. They don’t need to lose both their mother and their father.”

“Fine, but I’m going out there. I’m not leaving their side.” Tanner said as he looked over at Elle. “Suit me up, I’m gonna kill whoever it was that killed my wife.”
__________________________________________________________________________________
Athena’s P.O.V.
I quickly changed into my ritual outfit and headed to the room, but before I could leave my hall, Lewy was standing there. “You need to make a choice. This will affect everyone, Athena.” Lewy spoke as he came out of the shadows.

I looked at him, but I was still unsure about it, but in my mind, I just wanted to find out who killed my mother. “Do it. Wipe Ricky from my memories, please. I need a clear head.” I said as Lewy nodded and looked into my eyes.

I could see him going back to when I first met him, he had just turned 4 and I was just born.

Next one was when I was I first knew I was in love with him. He took me to his prom. He snuck Logan and I in, we danced to one song, that I always called it our song. Unconditionally by Katy Perry, we were dancing together and as I looked into his eyes, I knew that he felt it too.

The last one was when I found out he was stilled alive. I had hope that he would be completely fine and that I was gonna do something to change him, but because what happened to him, he wouldn’t be able to change.

All of those were wiped. I blinked my eyes and looked up at Lewy, I was a little confused why Lewy was standing in front of me. “Excuse me, I need to go.”

As I left my hall, I saw Dean and my heart fluttered. I gave him a long passionate kiss. As I pulled away from him. “I just needed to do that before we go into battle,” I said as he smiled.

“Don’t you worry, we have this. I’ll be by your side, always and forever.” Dean said placing a kiss on my forehead.

Temperature Blanket Update 2019 – July

Hey Dearies! With July finally coming to an end, it’s time to show you what our lovely temperature blanket is looking like! So, this month has been SOOOOO hot! Although we haven’t reached 100-degree weather, it has felt like 100 degrees on some days!

As you can see, our blanket looks different. It has an addition to it, and let me explain why.

So, as I have mentioned before, this is my first crack at the whole temperature blanket thing. I didn’t have a lot of time to really think this through and get the yarn I needed for the blanket.

I was gonna add the addition to the beginning of June, but totally spaced it, when connecting my squares together. I didn’t realize until I was in the middle of July that I wanted to do so. With that being said, I finished off July with the addition.

Let me tell you, I didn’t plan for the blanket to be this BIG, but on cold winter days, this will be the perfect thing to snuggle with on those chilly days. Anyway, take a look of it yourself!

20190731_125616.jpg
January, February, March, April, May, June, and July.

I tried my best to get the entire blanket in the shot, but for the future, I will be taking two pictures, just to make sure that I get the entire blanket in the shot! Literally, I was moving furniture around just so I could get a full shot of how big it is.

This is in my living room if you were wondering. The bigger it gets, the harder it will be to take photos, but I will try my best to keep giving you an update on it!

We have had a few days of 90 degrees, which are the orange squares. We haven’t hit 100 degrees, yet, but this is Maine. It’s rare for it to hit 100 degrees, but it has been 100 before in the past. It’s gotten close, but once it does, you’ll start to see some red squares when we do!

What was the lowest temperature for this month?

70 has been the lowest temperature we have seen, but only if we have a wonderful rainy day! Although, we have been getting a lot of thundershowers, that I HATE! Thunder scares the crap out of me and makes my anxiety go from 0-100 pretty quick when it comes to that.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet C2C Wrist Pocket (Easy)

Hey Dearies! So, I’ve got another super fun project to show you guys! This one is another c2c pattern and since I created a c2c phone case, I figured we do another pattern using the c2c stitch!

This idea happened to show up, while I was on Pinterest, which is usually where I get a vast majority of patterns or ideas. I saw that they had a wrist pocket and I wanted to try it with more of a C2C kick to it!

20190730_085030.jpg

These are perfect for going to amusement parks or just a hike or just in case you don’t want to have to take your purse/wallet with you. Plus they can look pretty stylish too!

Let’s talk about what you’ll need:

  • 5.0 mm hook
  • Medium Size Yarn
    • I’m using a Red Heart Brand. I’m not sure what the color is labeled, but it does look like hot pink!
  • Sewing Needle
  • Button

Before we begin, if you don’t know how to do a C2C stitch, here is a link to a video on how to do so, if you need to visually see how to do the stitch. This is NOT my video, all credit goes to Heart Hook Home.

Now, let’s begin!

C2C Base

Chain 5.

Row 1: Double crochet into the 3 chain space from the hook. Double crochet in the last 2 chains.

Row 2: Chain 5. Double crochet into the 3rd chain space. Double crochet in the next 2 spaces. Turn your square and slip stitch in the chain 3, from the previous stitch. Chain 2. Work 3 double crochets in that same stitch where you did your slip stitch.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2.

We are now going to end the top row. If you want to make it thicker, add another row or repeat Row 3.

Row 4: Turn your work and slip stitch in the next 3 stitches. *Chain 2. Make 3 double crochet in the chain 3 gap.* Repeat until you reach the other side. Chain 5.

Row 5: Double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook. Double crochet in the next 2 chains. Slip stitch into the chain 3 gap. *Chain 2. Make 3 double crochet in the chain 3 gap.* Repeat until you reach the other side. Chain 5.

Repeat this process until your work can wrap around your wrist. Make sure you add another row, for when we add the button.

Remember: To end a side, after you finish your double crochets, slip stitch in the top 3 holes to end the side. Look back into the video for more help!

Once you end your base, single crochet around it. Make sure to make 3 single crochets in each of the corners.

Button Hole

On one of the shorter sides, single crochet together in the first two stitches. Half double crochet in the next stitch. Double crochet in the next stitch. Treble crochet in the same stitch as your double crochet.

Chain 3. Treble crochet in the next stitch. Double crochet in the same stitch as the treble crochet. Half double crochet in the next stitch. End the last two stitches with single crochet together.

Pocket

Row 1: Chain 9. Single crochet in the second chain from your hook and single crochet across. You should have 8 stitches. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 2-8: Single crochet across. Chain 1 and turn. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Note: I made this to be about the same size as the width of the wrist base. You can make yours bigger if you need to.

Attach this to the wrist base by sewing it on. Only sew 3 of the sides. Weave off any ends.

Pocket Button Hole

Slip stitch into the top of the base, right above where your pocket opens up.

Row 1-3: Chain 1 and single crochet across the length of the pocket. Turn. Repeat.

Row 4: Chain 1. Single crochet in the first 2 stitches. Chain 3. Single crochet into the last 2 stitches. Turn.

Row 5: Chain 1. Single crochet into the first 2 stitches. Single crochet in the chain space 3 times. Single crochet into the last 2 stitches. Fasten off and weave in any ends.

Sew on the buttons for the pocket and wrist base and you are all set!

There you have it! This is another pattern that is perfect to practice, especially if you want to get into C2C stitches.

Unforgotten – Chapter 25

If you haven’t read Chapter 24, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/07/22/unforgotten-chapter-24/

Athena’s P.O.V.
Before we even started training, we all had to meet in the meeting room to talk about something. I wasn’t sure what it was about, but for some reason, my Aunt Marie looked like she was glowing happy.

The only thing that would make me happy is if they say the war wasn’t going to happen at all, but with me involved, I might make this worst than it seems. What Lewy said has been running through my mind, whether I should have him erase all memories of Ricky.

I still didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I had to make up my mind quick. This upcoming battle won’t wait for me. I looked over back at my Aunt Marie, she had her fingers entwined with James. I was a little confused because James and she never seemed to be that close.

“Thank you all for meeting. I know we still have quite a bit of training to do, but we have another factor to address.” Elle spoke as she looked over at my Aunt and James. “Go ahead.”

My Aunt Marie’s smile didn’t go away, as she stepped closer to the table. “I have a wonderful announcement for everyone. Although I didn’t expect this to happen, but it did and I might not be as useful as I need to be.” She paused and took a deep breath. “I’m expecting a child.”

I was shocked, I thought it was something to do with me, but I looked at her and gave her a smile. When I read more into mom’s journal’s, Aunt Marie wanted to be with James to give her a child, to keep her young and alive. Now, it has finally happened. I looked over at Logan as he glanced at me, as well.

“Thank you, but now, I might be in more danger since the hybrid’s will want to kill me first.” Aunt Marie explained. She sat down at the table as all of our eyes looked at Colin, as he stood up.

“So, how are we going to do the protection spell now? We need one of you two, don’t we?” Colin asked, placing both of his hands on the table.

Elle interrupted. “James is going to do it. Now that’s said an done,” Elle looked over back at my Aunt, “Once the spell is cast, you will be the chosen one to stay in and keep it up when the battle starts. You won’t be alone, we will have some of Lewy and Colin’s men with you.”

My eyes glanced over at Lewy’s and I heard him say something that only I could here: Have you made up your mind about it?

I looked over at Dean as he held my hand under the table. He gave me a smile, my eyes went back up to Lewy again, as I nodded.
_______________________________________________________________________________
As soon as we left the meeting, I could hear voices get louder. I knew my Aunt Marie and James left before us, but this wasn’t them, it was my mother.

“You got her pregnant??” I heard her ask, as we saw my mother standing in front of James. “The only reason why you are even with her is that she saved your life from being a junky all your life.”

I watched as James had anger in his eyes. “What’s going on?” Logan said, coming up next to me, I shrugged and then he looked over at our mother.

“Why would you even care? I loved you before Tanner did and yet you still went with him!” James paused and looked over at Logan and I. “Jade, I even thought those kids were mine! I was heartbroken that I couldn’t have kids, but you should be happy for us. We both didn’t think this would go anywhere, but it did and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

He held my Aunt Marie’s hand as it warmed my heart. “I love her and our child,” James said, as my Aunt Marie gave him a kiss on the cheek. They left down their hall, as my mother started to follow them. My father grabbed her wrist and pulled her away.

“We need to talk.” He said as they headed outside. I didn’t understand what my mother’s outburst was, but as I looked over at Logan, I could notice that he was over our mom’s attitude on everything.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Tanner’s P.O.V.
Once Jade and I were outside the tree, I was over it all. The fights, the disagreements, and especially with what had just happened. Ever since I found my sister and brought her into our children’s life, it’s been such a problem.

The kids needed to know who she was, I wasn’t gonna hide them from that. Jade has been making me hold it all back from them. The night I left, we had a fight about it all. How I was choosing her sister over her.

All I wanted to do was find Marie and welcome her to our family. It had taken her years before she was able to control her thirst of blood, but Jade insisted on waiting long, so I left to find out for myself. I knew that my sister would never harm me, I’ve always checked up on her and asked her how she had been and stuff.

I knew about James being turned and that Marie and him were together. I didn’t want to tell Jade because I knew she would overreact to this all, as she was doing now. After what she said about my sister, I just can’t let her say that.

“Why are you being so fucking heartless?” I blurted out, as she looked shocked as I spoke.

“I’m not, Tanner! All of this is too much for me! James and Marie being together, let alone pregnant! Our children are witches and too young to be on there own! I can’t handle it! This is all of Marie’s fault!” She screamed at me, as I felt my blood boiling.

“You can’t blame this on just Marie! This isn’t her fault! If you want to blame someone, blame our grandmother!” I screamed back at her. “Why can’t you just be happy that our children are doing something to save the world? You should be happy that they have an aunt that they changed back into a human, that they can get to know. They don’t have anyone, but us, Jade.”

I looked into her eyes, I saw how upset she was, but something inside me clicked. She still loved James. After all this time of him being dead, she still loved him. She stayed quiet, as

I asked one more thing of her. “You still love him, don’t you?”

Her eyes grew big, as I spoke those words. I saw a tear slip from her cheek. I knew it. She wouldn’t tell me. I had a feeling that it was true, but I didn’t want to believe it.

“I never wanted to hurt you, Tanner. I just didn’t want to leave our kids with a broken family.” She finally spoke after a few moments of silence. “I love you.”

“Just go, Jade. Go back home. I’ll handled the kids, I’m not gonna leave them in a time of need.” I said as Jade started to cry more.

I turned back and was about to head back into the tree, but I heard a scream, when I turned back around and saw Jade with a blank face. My eyes grew in horror when I saw a blunt sword come through her chest, piercing her heart.

“No!!” I screamed as I pulled the sword from her chest and carefully held her body. I looked into her eyes, my eyes started to water as I held her.

“Don’t leave them.” She spoke before slowly closing her eyes for the last time. As I looked over, I saw Lewy and Colin run over to me.

“What happened?” Colin asked as I looked up at him. He looked down at Jade and saw her body. “Shit.”

I watched as Lewy picked up the sword that was imbedded into Jade’s chest. As he looked over the sword, he shock his head. “Looks like the war has just started.” Lewy said as he looked over at Colin.

I just held Jade in my arms, not believing that this was happening.

Mom Talk: Why I Decided To Go Back To School (And Blog/YouTube Channel Update!)

Hey Dearies! I know it has been a while since I’ve posted on Mom Talk, but there is a reason why. I’m been getting ready to go back to school, or otherwise further my education and figure out what I really want to do in life.

Image result for college mom

So, I have been thinking about college for the past few years, off and on. What really made me decide to do so are two things: My sister is going off to college herself and I saw a psychic that really gave me that extra push I wanted.

My sister, Kimmy, just graduated high school and is going off to an art college. Something in my mind just clicked in me. I’ve always wanted to go to college, I was gonna go after high school, but my plans got changed, which can happen.

Not to mention that when I saw the psychic, she told me that I was debating in my mind about going back to school. After she told me my future, about two years into the future she could tell, she said that I would’ve enrolled and I’d be working with children. Which she isn’t wrong, I’ve always wanted to become a teacher, an Elementary teacher or Middle School teacher at that.

Image result for i can do it

With that in mind, I finally gave myself a huge push forward to do so. I know that going to college is a big deal, but to me, I’ve been so proud of myself for pushing forward. A lot of my friends and family are really proud of me for taking that next step.

Anyway, the college that I chose is the same one that my mom is currently attending. It’s a community college, but if I chose to do so, I can transfer my credits to basically anywhere. Not to mention, I felt this would be a good place to start.

I’m going for General Studies, which is like the core classes you had to take in all through school. I figured this would help me decide on what subject would be to my liking, but I have two ideas that I would like to give it a shot, which is Medical Transcription and Billing or Accounting.

Image result for general studies

Those are just a few ideas that I had in mind, but for some people, they change their mind when they start college. Which can happen and its perfectly fine to do so!

Blog and YouTube Update

With that being said, I’m going to try and get a schedule cracked down for my blog, Youtube, and writing in my free time, with adding my online classes into the mix as well. I’m not gonna be ending this blog AT ALL!

In fact, once I begin college, I would love to tell you all at how I am doing or how I’m balancing my life as a stay at home mom with college on the side! So, for the next couple of months, I’ll be planning out my next Crafty Sassy’s, Sims Stuff, Filming and Editing for both my blog and my YouTube Channel.

I’ll keep you all posted on what’s going on or what will be happening or changing. My plan is to keep Crafty Sassy on Tuesday and my book on Mondays. I’d like to do some fun mini short stories on Fridays, but we will see what happens.

So, another update is that I’ll be creating either a new YouTube Channel, for Craft stuff, or keep it all on my original channel, I’m still debating about it. I figured it would be a little easier for people to look for videos and such with two separate channels, but I’ll figure out something!

Anyway, thank you to everyone who has supported me, followed me, and have given me motivation for everything I do!

Don’t forget to like my Facebook page! That is where I’ll be posting most of my updates!

Crafty Sassy: Crochet C2C Phone Case (Easy)

Hey Dearies! I’ve got another free pattern for you guys and I can’t wait to show it to you all! So, as you all know, if you follow me on Instagram, I showed you one of my pieces that was a C2C (Otherwise called a Corner 2 Corner), that I sadly rushed and didn’t pay attention to the details and ended up taking it apart.

Now, I am currently been practicing with the C2C stitch and I figured this pattern would be an awesome idea, especially if you want to try and make this particular stitch. This phone case is a basic ‘sleeve’ case.

For this case, I ended up pulling out an unused skein of yarn that has been sitting in my closet of yarn, that I got for Christmas. I also know a LOT of people and family members who just LOVE camo stuff and I figured, why not use it for this!

Let’s talk about what you will need:

  • Medium Yarn
    • I am using the Red Heart Super Saver in Camo.
    • You can use whatever colors you wish, but using a mixed colored yarn makes it more fun!
  • 5.0 mm hook
  • Sewing needle

Let’s Begin!

Making the Base

First thing is first, grab your yarn and make a slip knot onto your hook!

Row 1: Chain 5. Double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook. Double crochet into the next 2 chain stitches.

Row 2: Repeat row 1. *Slip Stitch into the opening gap of the last square you made, in the chain 3 space. Chain 2. Make 3 double crochets in the same gap that you made your slip stitch in. * Repeat * one more. Turn your work.

Repeat Row 1 and Row 2 until you reach your desired height. Mine has 12 squares for my height, I wanted to make it a little bit bigger so it wasn’t so snugged tight.

When you reach the desired height, turn your work and slip stitch into the next 3 stitches. After that, Chain 2 and make your 3 double crochets. You do this same thing for your width as well. (I did about 13, making sure it wrapped around my phone, but adding an extra row, making it 14 just so it wasn’t as snug.

I know this can sound confusing, but if you need to watch someone do this, I will be leaving a link from Heart Hook Home, that shows you what you need to do. If you are like me, you want to see what you need to do, but once you learn to do it, you’ll catch on pretty quick!

This video was SO helpful when I was looking for a good C2C teaching video. You see, when you do a normal C2C, they have you chain 6 instead of 5, making the project have more of a gap between squares.

Anyway, how long you want to make your width, is totally up to you. I based it on how long it needed to be to wrap around my phone, but I added another row so that it wouldn’t be so tight.

Here is what it will look like:

20190723_085157.jpg
As you can see, my length is about 12 squares going up and my width is about 14 squares going across.

Border/Sewing Together (Optional)

Now, for the next part, you can do of 2 ways.

  1. Single crochet around the entire base.
    1. I went with the first one because it does make it easier to add the buttonhole to the case itself. It also makes it look nice and neat.
    2. When you single crochet around, make sure to make 3 single crochets in all of the corners. You’ll see why when we come to the next step!
  2. Fold it and sew it together.
    1. You can do the second way, but if you are looking for an easier, and simple way to sew them together, step one is the way to go! If you are set on step 2, just skip down to the buttonhole step.

Once you have finished with step 1, grab your sewing needle, sew in any loose ends before we begin. Get enough yarn, that you will think will be enough, and thread your needle.

Note: I usually grab more than necessary, but the extra yarn that is leftover, we are going to use for the buttonhole or you can use it for any scrap projects in the future! NEVER THROW YOUR SCRAPS!

Once your needle is threaded, line the two ends together and tie a know. This will make it so that our sewing is a little thicker. Then start sewing! I went back an forth, going through both of the stitches from the single crochet.

Sew ONLY 3 of the sides, one of the short sides will be the opening for the case itself. Cut any extra yarn and weave in any loose piece of yarn. Any extra yarn we will be using for our next step!

20190723_093834.jpg

Here is what mine looked like, once I sewed around it all!

Buttonhole and Button

By the opening at the top, find where you want to place your buttonhole.

Slip knot the extra yarn onto your hook and insert it onto the top. Single crochet in that same spot.

Chain 20.

Note: You can chain more or less, depending on where you want your button to be, just remember, you need to make sure that it will reach the button. You can always sew the button to where you want it to be and then create the buttonhole.

Single crochet into the next stitch/and or place.

Fasten off and weave the ends. Add your button and you are done!

20190723_094737.jpg
This is what mine turned out to be!

There you have it! I think these would be perfect gifts for stocking stuffers for the teens or adults. I won’t be surprised if you can fit a PSP or DS in these no problem!

Unforgotten – Chapter 24

If you haven’t read Chapter 23, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/07/15/unforgotten-chapter-23/

Logan’s P.O.V.
We have been training and practicing for about a week or so. Haven’t heard anything from the hybrids, but the vampires and werewolves’ packs and clans have already started to come to the base. Lewy and Colin have been working together well, which I was kind of shocked about.

Athena hasn’t taken the deal from Lewy, I was really hoping for her to take the deal by now. With the war about to happen, she has to do it or she will all put us in doom. I shiver at being reminded what Lewy showed me.

I can’t get it out of my head, it won’t leave my mind of what they would do all of us. I haven’t been able to go to sleep without waking up screaming. I haven’t told Roxi what is going on, but she worries about me having these nightmares.

She and I have gotten closer lately. I have been around here more than I have my parents and Athena. I look over at her, sleeping next to me, watching her chest go up and down, her hair scattered around her side of the bed. I couldn’t help, but smile.

I got up, slowly leaving my spot on the mattress, and headed towards my kitchen, as I was about to grab something to drink, I spotted Dean, just sitting out on my porch swing, smoking. I walked out my front door, as his eyes laid on me.

“What are you doing up so early?” I asked, sitting next to him. He handed me the joint he was smoking off of before he answered me.

“I wanted to talk to you.” He said, looking me straight in the eye. “Is it true? The vision?” I gave him a strange look, how did he know about that? I took a hit off of the joint, staying quiet.

“Lewy showed me the vision,” Dean spoke again as I nodded. “So, it’s true? She could all doom us, huh?”

I passed the joint back to him. “From what Lewy showed us, yeah, it could happen.” I paused for a moment before he could reply back. “You got to understand that Ricky has been in our lives since the day we were born. We grew up as siblings, but Athena and he didn’t get together until all of this shit started happening.”

He stood up and looked down at me. “Lewy mentioned he could erase her memory of him. He told me a second memory but didn’t tell me what was it. He mentioned that you had already done so with Roxi.” He paused, looking over as the waves crashed upon the shore. “You did it with her, didn’t you?”

I watched as he turned to face me, I was waiting for him to punch me in the face, but he didn’t. “Look, I really like her, there is a connection between us and she’s like the girl of my dreams. I’m sorry if that-”

“Don’t worry about it, I get it. I feel the same way with your sister.” He then leaned his body against the wooden bracket. “So, that’s how she will forget him.”

I shrugged. “I guess so, but I tried to get Lewy to convince her to have her mind wiped of him. The only difference is that if you bond with her, she’ll remember him, but her feelings for him won’t matter because she has you.” I stood up and headed towards the front door. “Do what you have to do, the sooner she forgets, one less thing we have to stress on.”

As I opened the door, Dean walked off my porch and headed out of my hall. I closed the door and held my head against the wall. I felt warm arms wrap against my torso. “I was looking for you.” I heard Roxi whispered into my ear. “Was that my brother you were talking to?” As I turned around, facing her, holding her hands in mind.

“It was nothing, just guy stuff.” I smiled, pushing back some of her hair behind her ear.

“Come on, let’s get back to bed and cuddle before we have to get up and train.”

She smiled as I lightly brushed her lips against mine, scooping her up in my arms and walking into my bedroom with her.

Marie’s P.O.V.

“I can’t believe you are putting our children at risk like this! Our children should be in school learning and preparing for what they want to do in life, not this crap!” Jade yelled as I rubbed my forehead. She has been complaining about this for the past few days and I’ve had enough.

I looked over at my brother, hoping he would say something that would change her mind or at least shut her up. “Jade, I know this isn’t what we had hoped for our kids future, but there was nothing that couldn’t have stopped this.” He paused, rubbing her shoulders.

“Think of it as they are saving the world.”
Jade pulled away from Tanner and turned back on me. “This is all YOUR fault! I wish you were still out of our lives!”

All of a sudden, something in me didn’t feel right. Some odor hit my nose and my stomach didn’t agree with it. I ran to the nearest trash can and puked. I felt someone rubbing my back, when I looked up, it was James. “You feeling alright?”

I saw Elle approach the main hall with the look that I was afraid of. “May I have a word with you, James and Marie?” Elle asked as James helped me up. We followed Elle to our dorm, I could still hear Jade bitching about all this bullshit.

Elle closed the door behind me and held my hands. “My dear, do you know you are with child?” She smiled. I felt a flutter in my stomach as I didn’t think this could’ve ever happened to me.

“Wait, what? I’m so confused.” James said, then turned to me, giving me a look. His eyes were watering. “Are you really pregnant?”

I turned to look at Elle and smiled. Looking down at my stomach and then looking back into James’ eyes, I smiled. “Yes, I believe so.” James started to cry and got down on his knees, hugging my stomach. He started placing kisses all over my stomach.

“I’m so happy for you, Marie. This probably wasn’t the best timing, but this might make them strike for you first.” Elle explained, she wasn’t wrong, hybrids would destroy anyone caring our kind, especial a special child, such as the one that I’m growing.

James looked over at Elle and walked over to her. “What can we do? I’ll do anything to protect her.” I could see the fear in his face.

Elle held his hand and smiled. “Don’t you worry, we will talk to everyone about this and figure out our next step. Have hope, my dear.”

Dean’s P.O.V.
After I left Logan’s hall, I went to find Athena, as I couldn’t find her in her own hall, I headed down my own, entering my castle-like home, I found her, lying asleep on my bed. I laid down on the bed aside her.

Her eyes fluttered open and smiled when she saw me. “Morning Beautiful. I thought we were sleeping at your place?” I questioned as I motioned her to lay on my chest.

“My parents were fighting and I got tired of them screaming. I told them to go bother Logan, but my mother stormed off. I figured if I came here, I would at least get a little peace of sleep.” She moved over and looked at me. “I was wondering where you went off to?”

“I was just talking to Elle about the protection spell, again.” I lied. “Just want to make sure I understood it, that’s all.” I didn’t want to tell her I had talked to Lewy and then went to see her brother after. She doesn’t need to know, not right now.

“We will all be great at it.” She laid on my chest. “I don’t want to get up, yet,” I smirked, placing a kiss on her forehead.

“You know what? Let’s do something tonight, just you and me. What do you say?” I asked she leaned her head up to look at me, a smile appeared on her face.

“Are you asking me on a date?” As I watched her cheeks get bright red from blushing. I nodded as her smile grew bigger. “Of course. What do you have planned?” She asked as I looked at my ceiling.

“You’ll see,” I said as we cuddled for a little bit longer, as I thought of what I would plan for our first date in my head.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Circle Coasters (Easy)

Hey Dearies! Back again with another super cute pattern! Not only is this super cute, but it is one of those patterns you can play around with the colors. I figure this would be the perfect time to show you how to make a coaster since we are in summer!

This pattern will have TWO sizes, since I’ve found most patterns, for coasters, are usually very small or not big enough for your super big mugs, which what I use on the daily! So, let’s start with what you need!

What you need:

  • Medium Size Yarn
    • I’m using Red Heart Super Saver in a light purple and dark purple.
  • 4.5mm crochet hook
  • Sewing Needle

Alright! So, let’s begin!

Make a magic circle with your main color.

Round 1: Chain 3. (This counts as your first double crochet.) Work 11 double crochet in the circle. Pull the tail of the magic circle to tighten and close the circle. Slip Stitch in the top chain of the beginning of chain 3.

Round 2: Chain 3. (Counts as your first double crochet.) Work a double crochet in that same stitch. Work 2 double crochets in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch in the beginning of chain 3.

Round 3: Chain 3. (Counts as your first double crochet.) Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch. *Double crochet in the next stitch. 2 double crochets in the next stitch.* Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in the top of chain 3.

Round 4: Chain 3. (Counts as your first double crochet.) *1 double crochet in the next 2 stitches, 2 double crochets in the next stitch. * Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in the top of chain 3.

Round 5: Chain 3. (Counts as your first double crochet.) *1 double crochet in the next 3 stitches, 2 double crochets in the next stitch. * Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in the top of chain 3. Fasten off.

This should fit most cups, if not, you can always add another row or so! Also, if you see your project curling up, stretch it out and adjust, if you have too. Now, if you don’t want to make the swirl design, just sew in your loose ends and create for your table!

Contrast Swirl

Since I am using a dark purple, I’m going with a light purple. You can also use white for any dark colors for the swirl part as well!

Insert your hook near the center of the circle, in between the next 2 stitches, from round 1 and pull up a loop. Insert your hook in between the next 2 stitches and pull up another loop.

Keep doing this around in the same manner, creating a spiral until you reach the end of the last round. Fasten off and weave your ends.

20181101_090147.jpg

You can make a set of 4 coasters, for your table, or make more so that you have them for when you have company over on a hot day, these will not only help keep the water droplets from soaking into your table but they will look super cute!

Tip: If you don’t like the fact that your coaster slips and slides on your tables, try taking a hot glue gun and make dots on the back of the coaster. Let them dry and they see if that helps prevent it from sliding around.

Unforgotten – Chapter 23

If you haven’t read Chapter 22, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/07/08/unforgotten-chapter-22/

Athena’s P.O.V.
Lewy tugged me behind the water fountain, hoping that no one was looking. I was frightened at the fact that he might do something to me, but a voice I heard in my head calmed me:

Don’t worry, Athena. I just want to talk.

I realized that it was him talking, I started to calm down, although, I didn’t know what he wanted to talk to me about.

“You loved him, isn’t it?” Lewy asked I was confused who he was talking about. “Ricky, right?” I nodded as I tried to ignore the memories that my brain wanted to keep flowing in my brain.

“Why?” I looked into his eyes and asked.

“Well, I’m a very rare and powerful old vampire. I can see the future for center people, only those who have a heart of pure good. Lately, ever since I’ve seen you around here, I’ve seen your future and what will happen, if you don’t get rid of him in your heart.” Lewy held my hand and smiled. “You see my dear, Ricky cannot be changed back. Whatever happened to him, he will never return back to his old self.”

I felt tears falling down my cheeks. I will admit, I had hope for him. Hope that I would be able to help him and bring him back to the person he was supposed to be. I didn’t know how well I trusted this vampire, but the words he spoke, made him sound like he was telling the truth.

“I-I can help him.”

“Darling, if you could help him, I wouldn’t be standing here talking to you about it.” He pulled away from my hands and smiled. “You do have such a pure heart that you’ll do anything to save him. Sadly, there is nothing you can about it, I’m afraid. Since he so in love with you, that he is going to be coming for you.”

“Coming for me? Why?” I crossed my arms, waiting for what Lewy had to say.

“You are his on true love. Between you and you’re brother, he will try and convince you first about ending this war. Logan is too hard-headed that even Ricky knows it isn’t worth it to ask him.” Lewy said, looking around the corner to see if anyone else was looking. “I don’t have much time, but I’m giving you a choice.”

I was puzzled, a choice for what? Looking back at Lewy, staring into his eyes, he started to speak again.

“I can make you forget who he is, in your mind. You won’t remember what he looks like or any memories you had together with him. I suggest that you take some time to think it over, but we don’t have much of it.”

“Would it hurt me?” I questioned as I wanted to know if it would effect me differently.

“All I would be doing is taking you’re memories or thoughts that you ever had of him.” He then hugged me, leaning his head closer to my ear. “If I were you, I would highly consider it. Unless you think you are strong enough to endure saying no.”

I nodded, and just like that, Lewy was gone. I looked around, but he had disappeared so quickly.

He was right, but I didn’t want him to alter my mind. Although, if it made sure that we would win the battle, keeping the peace with everyone, I would do it.

I started walking towards my hall, just letting my mind wonder and think about it. I needed to really sleep on it.
________________________________________________________________
Logan’s P.O.V.
As I kept pacing, back and forth, waiting for Lewy to come back after talking with my sister. I was scared to find out if she didn’t take his offer. He had come in and told me what would exactly happen on the battlefield, Athena would want to do everything to save him, if she did, we would all be dead, or worse, slaves.

I shook my head, trying to get the vision that Lewy showed me what would happen if we were to take that road. I couldn’t risk it. I looked over and saw Lewy coming towards me. He had a smirk on his mouth as he stood in front of me.

“She’s considering it, but I believe she will let me wipe him from her mind,” Lewy said, giving me some sort of relief. Knowing my sister, and how close she is with Dean, I didn’t want to tell him what was going on, knowing that he would go ahead and alert my sister of what I was wanting her to do.

“Let’s hope that her mind doesn’t change. She has been in love with him since we were in middle school.” I threw my hands into my hair, looking back over to Lewy. “You sure she’ll do it?”

“At this moment, she is thinking about it.” He said, placing his hands behind his back, looking out over to the sunset as the waves crashed against the sand. “You know, I might not have to wipe her memory of Ricky. Dean and she are pretty close, I’m surprised that they haven’t done what you have Roxi have.”

I looked over at him, feeling my cheeks burning, just from him saying that. I didn’t want to think that Dean was, you know, doing it with my sister. Then again, I had already done that with Roxi. Just thinking about it made me want to go back to her hall and toss her onto the bed.

Lewy smirked, probably listening to what I was thinking, for sure. “Bonding is the only other thing that she could do to forget about him.” He looked back at me, staring at me with his blood red eyes. “I’ll let you know if she wants me to wipe her memory. Goodnight.” Lewy bowed and then left my hall.

I looked over at the waves and hoped that this war wouldn’t be as messy as Lewy showed me it would be.

Crafty Sassy: Crochet Striped Washcloths (Easy)

Hey Dearies! So, today I figured I would teach you how to create a simple washcloth! If you are very new to crochet, this would be the place to start! Creating washcloths are one of the most basic thing to crochet, not to mention, it helps you with learning how to single crochet.

When a beginner is looking for a project to practice on, washcloths are usually where they start from. You can make them with different stitches or styles! This particular pattern also shows you how to change colors and to create a simple single crochet border!

Let’s talk about what you will need:

  • Medium Yarn
    • This pattern requires two types of colors. You can use any colors you would like!
    • I’ll be using Red Heart Super Saver in White and Cherry Red.
  • 3mm hook
  • Sewing needle
  • Stitch Marker (optional)

Now, let’s begin!

Using your main color, chain 35. (I’ll be starting with the White first.)

Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Turn. (34)

Tip: You can place a stitch marker at the end of each row, it will make sure that you don’t lose track or make sure that you don’t add any unwanted stitches!

Row 2-23: Chain 1. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Don’t chain 1 on the last row, we are going to change colors at this point! (34)

Should measure about 4 3/4in (12cm). Change to your other color. (I’ll be switching to the Cherry Red.)

Row 24-25: Chain 1 with your second color. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Don’t chain 1, when you are the last row.

Switch back to your main color.

Row 26-27: Chain 1 with your main color. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Don’t chain 1, when you are the last row.

Row 28-29: Chain 1 with your second color. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Don’t chain 1, when you are the last row.

Switch back to your main color.

Row 30-31: Chain 1 with your main color. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Don’t chain 1, when you are the last row.

20190709_114444.jpg

Row 32-33: Chain 1 with your second color. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Don’t chain 1, when you are the last row.

Switch back to your main color.

Row 34-38: Chain 1 with your main color. *Single crochet into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to the end. Fasten off. Weave in any ends from switching colors.

20190709_121439.jpg

This is what it looks like the washcloth without the boarder. You can leave it like this, but for me, I think the border adds or makes it look better and evener.

Border

Grab the secondary color that you used for the stripes, and attach it to the side of the washcloth. You can start where ever, but I recommend not starting on a corner.

Chain 1 and then single crochet around your washcloth. When you get to the edges, make sure you make 3 single crochets in each corner.

Once you have reached to where you started, slip stitch into the next single crochet and fasten off. Weave in any loose strings.

20190709_123421.jpg

There you have it! A simple washcloth for you! This was the very first one that I’ve ever made. I was one of those beginners that just jumped into beginner patterns and never got a chance to create a washcloth.

The best part, you can use this in the kitchen, bathroom, or living room! Where ever you need it! However, when you do finish creating this, it will be very stiff. The more you get it wet and use it, the more it will start to loosen up.

I recommend hand-washing these in lukewarm water, and having them air dry. Once they begin loose enough, you can put them into the dryer, but I would be careful. I’ve had a few projects unravel in the washer before.

Unforgotten – Chapter 22

If you haven’t read Chapter 21, here is the link:

https://katiesblog96971617.com/2019/07/01/unforgotten-chapter-21/

Logan’s P.O.V.

“So, where do you want me to start?” I asked as Roxi was sitting next to me.

“About my brother, why is he involved too?” Roxi asked. Elle handed me a glass of water as I took a sip. “Just start from the beginning.”

“Well, everything was black, then I was someone’s eyes. I was in Ricky’s point of view. I noticed him looking in a mirror, very different from when we last seem him. He’s buff and strong. He was talking to a man, who I think put us in this vision thing, whatever it’s called.”

“Controlled Vision Curse, is what it was.” Elle interrupted. “Whoever had you both in a spell, had your DNA. It’s the only way to do so.”

“Anyway, it looked like his father or something. Then I turned and saw his mother, strapped to the chair, she was still alive. I wanted to help her, I could feel that he wanted to help her too, but he didn’t. He just watched her get beaten.” I looked over at Roxi,

“Then your brother came in and slammed something in her stomach, and then slowly pulled it out. Once it was out, they started talking. Your brother had a few vampires, that he got evolved with, to side with the hybrids, and they changed them all, they were just waiting for them to be strong enough do to so.”

I looked over to my Aunt Marie, Elle, James, and my dad. “They are building an army and they are coming here.”

“Why would they want to tell us they are coming here?” Elle asked as I looked at my Aunt Marie. “I figured they would come here.”

“No, they are coming here, they are just bluffing because they are going to go to their allies and convince them to join.” Aunt Marie spoke as I saw someone coming over to us.

“Oh, but why would we want to join them? I like being a bloodsucker.” A man with long blond hair and pale skin came towards us, he flashed a smile and showed his fangs clear as day. “Elle, my dear, it has been centuries, but you still don’t look a day over 100.” He approached Elle and kissed her hand.

“Oh, Lewy, it’s so good to see you again. I’m glad you were able to come.” Elle said smiling and hugging him.

“But of course, I’m not going to let those halflings try and take over.” Lewy said, as I noticed his eyes were as red as blood. We laid eye contact with each other, but his eyes gazed over to my Aunt Marie instead. “Marie, I’m so sorry about your maker, but I heard he taught you well.”

“He did, but I’m no longer have to worry about being in the sunlight, anymore.” She smirked as he laughed.

“That’s right, I heard something of the lines that 4 witches were able to turn 2 vampires into humans. I can’t wait to meet them all.” Lewy laid his eyes on both Roxi and I. “As I can see 2 out of the 4, where are the other 2?”

“We had a complication today. Him and his twin sister were trapped in a Controlled Vision Curse, but his sister, Athena, got the worse of it.” Elle explained. as we saw another figure coming towards us.

“And this is why I prefer being a wolf.” I looked up as a tanned male, with black hair and tattoos covering his shoulders, came closer. His eyes were yellow, but changed back to brown. “Ah, Lewy, I could smell you before I arrived.”

“I wanted to get here first before your stench presented itself, thank you.” Lewy said, smirking down at the werewolf. “Let’s not argue, as we have business to handle, Collin.”
Collin looked over at all of us and then looked over at Elle. “So, let’s get to business, shall we?”
________________________________________________________________________
Athena’s P.O.V.

Blood. Was all I could think of. Every time I closed my eyes, all I could picture was blood. Ricky’s mom had somehow managed to still be alive, I just couldn’t believe it. As I saw her vision, I saw Ricky. My heart felt so warm, but he had a deathly stare in his eyes. I didn’t recognize him.

The best friend that I’ve been in love with, was dead to me. I didn’t like the way he acted, as I watched from his mother’s eyes. He was heartless and cold. I never thought that he would turn out to be that way. It broke my heart.

But, the blood. The pain of being stabbed by a metal pipe in my stomach. The blood that was all over me, as I woke from the vision. I could handle blood, but the thought that the stab was from Ricky’s mother, I didn’t want to even think about it.

Dean brought me into my hall and walked into my house, as I looked dazed. I tried to stare away from his hands, as they were covered in blood. Not just anyone’s blood, but my blood. I looked away from him, as he sat me down in my chair, handing me a wet washcloth.

“Here, you can wash the blood off yourself, I can go get you a pair of clean clothes,” Dean spoke, as he was now on his knees looking into my face. Before I could speak, I heard coughing. As I turned, my mother stood in the doorway, her eyes red from crying.

“Can you give us a minute?” my mother asked as Dean stood up and nodded. He walked into another room, as soon as he shut a door, my mother came over and started to clean off the blood from my skin. “You both are coming home. I can’t sit here and watch you two scare me like that! You are only 16 and should be worrying about what colleges to go to or what you want to do in life, not trying to protect the world! Pack your things, we are leaving tonight.”

She got up and grabbed a bag and started clearing out the stuff I did have set up. I finally realized what she was doing and ripped the bag from her grasp. It startled her, as I’ve never done that to her before.

“No, I am going to do what I was born to do. I was born to keep this world at peace. Don’t you understand that I can never leave this place, only once on my birthday and if I do leave, I have to protect myself because I am a target, as well as Logan, mom.” I paused and dropped the back on the chair. “I did something amazing today, I helped Aunt Marie and James become human again. Logan and I did it because we were chosen to do so.”

“I know and I thank you for it, but you still are coming with me, you aren’t 18 and your brother and you can and will come home. Have a normal teenage life like I did. Not all of this!” My mom replied.

“I will have a normal teenage life, mom, but here. I’ll still be learning, but what I need to learn to protect you all and keep the peace. I need to be here because Dean, Roxi, and Logan depend on me. Aunt Marie and James depend on me too. I know you don’t understand, but I’ve come to terms with it and I want to help.”

“So, I can find out that you’re pregnant?” She blurted out. I knew she was going to bring up Dean, I had a feeling. “You don’t know what love is, Athena. If you think this guy wants to be with you, you are wrong. It’s all just a crush and you know it! I will not watch my daughter become 16 and pregnant!” She yelled as I stared back at my mother.

“I may not know what love is, but I know what I feel for Dean, it’s real to me. I know better than to jump into bed with some guy. Dean’s different, he may not look like a nice guy, but he is to me. He’s been by my side as we both go through something together.” I said as I noticed Dean’s head popping out from the door.

My mother turned and looked over at him and then back to me. “Fine, then you can make your own choices.” She said before storming out of my place.

Dean came out of the room and walked over to me. I looked at him and smiled. “Sorry, you had to hear that,” I said as he grabbed my hands and kissed them.

“Nah, don’t be sorry. I liked what I heard at the end.” He replied as I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled. He leaned in and brushed his lips over mine, once more than pulled on my lip, as he pulled away. “I’ll go wait outside while you change.”

He gave me one more kiss and then smiled as he walked outside. I could still feel the excitement that he gave me, still sitting on my lips. He actually made me forgot what had happened with the blood earlier.

I quickly got changed and then headed outside myself. Dean sat, waiting for me at the bridge, he smiled when he saw me and then grabbed my hand, as we headed back to the main hall to figured out what our next step was.
