Once Lucas untied my blindfold, I looked around and noticed that I wasn’t in my simple cottage, but in an old farmhouse. This one looked a little familiar, especially when we were on the road traveling.
“What are you going to do with me?” I asked as Lucas lit a few candles around the room. The room was covered in the duct and cobwebs like this place had been abanded for years. My eyes turned to the left and I noticed in the kitchen that there was just a table, it too looked like it was going to fall apart.
“Well,” Lucas said, looking down at a photo that was framed on the table. I couldn’t notice who it was until he brought the photo closer. “You are mine. I’ve lost the only thing that has kept me going, until now.”
He walked closer to me as he held the photo frame of my mother, a tear fell from my cheek as he touched the side of my face. I just wanted it all to be over.
All I could think of was my dad and brother, how much I would miss them, not to mention my Aunt Maire and James. I wouldn’t be where I was today without them. Then I thought about Dean, how much I should’ve told him I loved him and how much he means to me. I wouldn’t be as strong today without him.
I didn’t want to keep thinking that, thinking that I would never see my friends or family again. I had to come up with a plan.
Lucas turned away and walked into another room as I tugged my arms to pull apart or loosen the rope around my wrists. I stopped once I noticed that Lucas had entered back into the room with a white dress.
It looked like a wedding dress, but it was covered in dust that seemed more yellow than white. “What do you think?” He asked me.
I nodded and faked to like the hideous dress. “If we are going to do this, we are going to do it right.” He then took me and pulled me into the same room he just came from. It was a bedroom, the smell itself made me wanted to vomit. Not to mention the bedsheet was stained with something brown.
He then took the rope off from around my wrist. “Put it on, I’ll be back in a second.” He said, as soon as he freed my wrists, he smiled and closed the door behind him.
I ran towards the windows, even though they were covered with boards, I wanted to see if any of them were loose, but they were all hammered in tightly. The strong scent caught my nose as I turned away from the last corner. Flies were all over the closet door.
I covered my nose as I slowly approached the closet door. I used my shirt to cover my nose as I opened the door. Two decomposing bodies were sitting in there as other creatures were attacking the bodies. I couldn’t hold it in any longer as I vomited right in front of the bodies.
I screamed as I backed away from the closet and going across the room to the other corner. I couldn’t believe these bodies have been sitting in that closet for however knows how long. I cried as I tried to stare away, but the wounds on their bodies told me that they didn’t die a natural death.
They were murdered.
I watched as the door swung open, Lucas was standing there shaking his head. “I told you to put on the dress. You weren’t supposed to see that.” Anger filled his eyes as I tried to back away more into the corner as I could. Lucas started to walk closer to me, holding a syringe in his hands. “Now, we are gonna do this my way.”
He walked faster towards me pointing the syringe at me.
“No!” I screamed, using my strength to get him away from me, but all I saw was a face in front of me when everything went black.
I gripped onto the steering wheel, praying that nothing back has happened to Athena. She was the thing that I had left that reminded me of Jade. She looked just like her, same with Logan, but I wasn’t going to lose either of them.
Eli and I sat in silence as we drove off to this farmhouse. I finally broke the silence, wondering what Lucas’ plan was with my daughter.
“Does he know about Jade?” I asked as it hurt me to be reminded that she was gone. I promised to protect her too, but I failed to do so. I hated myself for that.
“Yes, he was told, which is why he shot me. He told me that Jade better be alive when we got there, otherwise, he would’ve killed me and Marie.” Eli said as I kept my eyes on the road, trying to get my mind off of everything.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you,” I paused as I looked over at him. Eli had completely disappeared after James had been turned into a vampire, but was staked. “How are you still alive? Marie told us you were dead.”
My eyes turned back on the road as I hear a sigh from Eli. “Let’s just say I had to fake my death to protect you all.”
“You could’ve told Marie that. She blames herself for you getting killed.” I said.
I looked over as I noticed that he was heartbroken at what I just said. I knew he loved Marie, they were perfect for each other. I knew she was always going to be safe being around him. Once he ‘died’, that’s when I started taking trips out to see her.
“I know, but the Vampire Court didn’t like the fact that you and Jade knew about our kind. They wanted me to kill you all, but instead, I faked my death. I had to make sure that Marie’s reaction was real so that she would push you away knowing that was the fate of us blood-suckers.”
My eyes opened wide when I saw that farmhouse in my view. I started to step on the gas, but Eli stopped. “No, we have to stop here. It’s a trap if we pull up in the driveway.” I stopped and turned off the engine. “He’s not alone.”
I looked around as I saw other people standing outside in front of the door. I looked back over at Eli. “So, what’s the plan?”
Eli smirked as he pulled out his phone and handing it over to me. “Call up those boys, we are gonna need a distraction.”
